Job description

Regional Retail Operations Manager 

Job Summary 

The Regional Retail Operations Manager will supervise and oversee the operations of all assigned retail locations under SSVC LLC and MOBS LLC. This role is responsible for ensuring that each retail store operates smoothly, efficiently, professionally, and profitably. The Regional Retail Operations Manager will work closely with store managers, employees, vendors, warehouse staff, and senior management to maintain strong store performance, compliance, customer service, and operational standards. 

This document serves as a functional guide for the role. Regular check-ins and updates will be necessary as the needs of the retail stores evolve, and responsibilities may be modified as needed. 

Expectations for this role include, but are not limited to: 

  • Lead with professionalism, integrity, and accountability. 
  • Be proactive, solution-oriented, and hands-on when necessary. 
  • Drive performance through effective leadership, clear structure, and support. 
  • Identify store and employee areas for improvement and provide coaching, training, and follow-up. 
  • Set and monitor sales targets for each retail store, ensuring team accountability and achievement of KPIs. 
  • Negotiate pricing, promotions, and vendor contracts to maximize profitability. 

Key Responsibilities 

Store Operations Oversight 

  • Ensure that all retail store locations maintain high operational standards, including cleanliness, inventory management, customer service, and overall store appearance. 
  • Develop and enforce standard operating procedures for store managers and employees to ensure consistency across all locations. 
  • Work closely with the warehouse team to streamline product distribution and ensure proper stock levels at each retail store. 
  • Implement best practices to optimize store layout, product placement, displays, and merchandising to drive sales. 
  • Conduct regular audits of store operations and implement corrective actions when necessary. 

Sales, Performance & Profitability 

  • Set clear sales goals for each store and ensure managers and employees understand their targets. 
  • Monitor store sales, gross profit, inventory movement, and employee performance. 
  • Identify areas of weakness and provide coaching, training, and support to improve store results. 
  • Review product pricing, promotions, and vendor opportunities to increase profitability. 
  • Work with vendors to negotiate better pricing, promotional support, displays, and product programs. 

Compliance & Industry Knowledge 

  • Ensure all retail stores comply with federal, state, and local laws governing tobacco, vape, nicotine, and smoke shop product sales. 
  • Train store employees on compliance protocols, including ID verification, age restrictions, advertising limitations, and company policies. 
  • Conduct regular compliance audits and implement corrective measures to reduce risk. 
  • Stay informed about industry trends, new product launches, competitor activity, and regulatory changes. 
  • Address and document any compliance violations, ensuring all stores follow company standards and industry regulations. 

Customer Experience & Relationship Management 

  • Establish high customer service standards across all retail store locations. 
  • Train store managers and employees on customer engagement, upselling techniques, product knowledge, and complaint resolution. 
  • Gather customer feedback and implement improvements to increase customer satisfaction and retention. 
  • Act as the primary point of contact for high-priority customer concerns or escalations. 
  • Ensure each store provides a consistent, professional, and positive shopping experience. 

Inventory, Merchandising & Product Management 

  • Monitor inventory levels at each store to ensure products are properly stocked and available. 
  • Work with store managers and warehouse staff to reduce out-of-stocks, overstocks, expired products, and slow-moving inventory. 
  • Review product assortment and recommend changes based on sales trends, customer demand, and profitability. 
  • Ensure proper merchandising, product placement, signage, and display execution. 
  • Track new products, popular items, and underperforming categories to improve store performance. 

Team Leadership & Training 

  • Provide leadership and support to store managers and employees. 
  • Train and coach staff on store operations, sales techniques, compliance, inventory handling, and customer service. 
  • Hold employees accountable for performance, attendance, professionalism, and adherence to company policies. 
  • Identify staffing needs and communicate hiring or scheduling concerns to senior management. 
  • Help build a strong, reliable, and accountable store team across all retail store locations. 

Performance Analysis & Reporting 

  • Collect and analyze sales reports from all retail store locations to measure performance and identify trends. 
  • Provide weekly and monthly reports on revenue, expenses, sales performance, inventory issues, and operational efficiency to senior management. 
  • Monitor competitor activity, pricing strategies, promotions, and product trends. 
  • Use data-driven insights to make strategic decisions on product assortment, staffing, promotions, and expansion. 
  • Provide clear recommendations to improve profitability, efficiency, and overall store performance. 

Qualifications 

  • Prior retail management, smoke shop, convenience store, or multi-location operations experience preferred. 
  • Strong leadership and communication skills. 
  • Ability to manage employees, hold teams accountable, and solve problems. 
  • Strong understanding of customer service, inventory control, and retail operations. 
  • Must be reliable, professional, organized, and detail-oriented. 
  • Must be able to travel between store locations as needed. 
  • Must be comfortable working with age-restricted products and enforcing compliance standards. 
  • Bilingual is a plus but not required.
