Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Risk Specialist is responsible for supporting and administering the organization's risk management programs, including but not limited to Property & Casualty (P&C) lines of insurance. This role provides claim administration coordination and financial analysis, and assists in policy administration and risk mitigation initiatives. The Risk Specialist collaborates with Third-Party Administrators (TPAs), insurance carriers, Corporate Safety, and Bass Pro locations to ensure timely, accurate, and efficient risk program execution. Additional responsibilities include incident reporting, data integrity, recovery management, and supporting discovery or audit requests.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Coordinate and manage Property and Casualty claims as assigned, including communication with adjusters, defense counsel, customers, and employees as necessary to resolution.
  • Produce and analyze claims data to identify trends and coordinate loss-prevention strategies with Corporate Safety and Bass Pro locations.
  • Liaise between locations, TPAs, adjusters, carriers, and internal departments to ensure timely and accurate claims handling.
  • Maintain risk management databases, dashboards, and internal systems with accurate, current information.
  • Prepare recurring claims reports, trend analyses, and presentations to support leadership and Safety partners.
  • Assist with insurance policy administration, including renewals, underwriting data collection, audits, and certificates of insurance.
  • ALL OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum Degree Required: BS/BA in Risk Management, Finance, Business Administration or equivalent
  • Preferred Degree: BS/BA in Risk Management
  • Certificate(s) or License(s) considered but not required: ARM, CRIS, CPCU

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY:
  • General knowledge of various insurance policy language, terms, and conditions and Certificates of Insurance.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to details to identify patterns and trends.
  • Ability to be flexible in tasks assigned and think strategically.

  • None

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Regularly performs computer work and sits.
  • Occasionally walks and stands.
  • Seldom/never lifts up to 50lbs.

INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT:
  • Perform duties within scope of general company policies, procedures, and objectives. Analyzes problems and performs needs assessments. Uses judgment in adapting broad guidelines to achieve desired result. Regular exercise of independent judgment within accepted practices. Makes recommendations that affect policies, procedures, and practices.
