Job Description:
Job Summary
Responsible for drawing blood from patients in hospital or similar facilities. Ensures proper collection and labeling of specimens for analysis. Maintains patient safety and comfort during procedures. Coordinates with medical staff to support diagnostic and treatment processes. Adheres to established protocols and quality standards.
Essential Functions
• Assembles and prepares equipment for blood collection procedures.
• Verifies patient identity and communicates to reduce anxiety.
• Collects and labels blood specimens accurately with required information.
• Verifies specimen collection in the computer system.
• Delivers collected specimens to the appropriate laboratory department.
• Monitors collected and uncollected specimen lists regularly.
• Attends mandatory training programs as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Education Requirement
High school diploma or equivalent experience
Experience Requirement
1-2 years of experience in laboratory, or a relevant area
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
All experience must be paid and in the same related field.
Part-time and PRN experience will be prorated based on hours worked per week.
Volunteer work and internships for academic credit are not counted.

Also involves occasional risk of back injury from moving, lifting, or positioning patients or equipment; intermittent risk of injuries from use of equipment on the job; occasional exposure to hazardous chemicals and fumes including waste and temperature extremes; intermittent exposure to cuts or punctures and bloodborne or airborne pathogens; and occasional interaction with combative or violent people.
