Qualifications:
Eligibility: Open to US Citizens.
To qualify, candidates must meet the educational and experiential criteria outlined below. Experience encompasses both paid and unpaid roles, including volunteer work through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, community, student, or social). All qualifying experience, including volunteer work, will be credited. Your resume should clearly detail your relevant experience; if qualifying through education, transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Basic Requirements for Physician (Neurology):
Degree: A Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution in the United States or Canada. This degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association, the Association of American Medical Colleges, the Liaison Committee on Medical Education, the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association, or another accrediting body acknowledged by the U.S. Department of Education at the time of graduation.
For degrees obtained from foreign medical schools, the education and medical knowledge must be equivalent to that of accredited U.S. institutions. Proof of equivalency can be demonstrated through permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the U.S. and graduate education abroad, or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination. (Note: A copy of your transcripts or proof of foreign equivalency must be included in your application package.)
Licensure: Candidates must hold a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a U.S. state, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a U.S. territory.
Graduate Training: After obtaining a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree, candidates must have at least one year of supervised clinical experience, such as a one-year internship or the first year of a residency program in an accredited hospital or institution.
In addition to the basic requirements, candidates must also fulfill the following qualification criteria:
Residency Training: Applicants must have successfully completed the necessary accredited residency training in the specialty of Neurology, along with equivalent experience and training totaling at least four years. Experience cannot substitute for the required residency training for this specialty.
If selected, you will not receive a salary quote at the time of the initial job offer. The salary determination process will commence after the initial job offer is accepted, involving the Activity Compensation Panel to establish your starting salary based on base pay and market pay, which will be communicated to you once approved.
EducationForeign Education: If you are utilizing education from foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification criteria, you must provide evidence that your educational credentials have been evaluated by a recognized organization specializing in the interpretation of foreign education programs, confirming that your education is equivalent to that obtained in an accredited U.S. program; or that full credit has been granted for your courses at a U.S. accredited institution.
