ROSALYN YALOW CHARTER SCHOOL is a non-profit K-5 public charter school. Our mission is to eliminate the learning achievement gap for urban children including special needs students and English language learnersby using an engaging and demanding curriculum to graduate students at or above grade level in literacy and math.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Rosalyn Yalow is looking for lead classroom teachers who will
be responsible for significantly increasing student scores on
NYS English language arts and math tests and meet the
school's goal of literacy for all. Teacher compensation is solely
based on student outcomes.
Tier I teacher salary: $138,500.
Yalow is chartered as a data-driven school. Tier I teacher
candidates must submit a student data portfolio (redacted)
along with written analysis of the data being submitted.
We are seeking experienced teachers for all grades for the
20262027 school year.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Implement Yalow's CKLA and Singapore math
    curriculum and assessments with fidelity.
  • Use classroom unit assessment data to modify weekly
    lesson planning.
  • Identify students with similar literacy skill deficits and
    collaborate with the RTI team to tailor specific
    interventions.
  • Track on-going student intervention plans, and provide
    data-driven feedback to the Director of Literacy.
  • Participate in all professional development
    programming provided to teachers, including the
    August Summer Teacher Workshop and family home
    visits.
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, and
    colleagues to ensure that students observe the school's
    high academic expectations and code of conduct.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Initial NYS Teacher Certificate.
  • 4+ years lead teaching experience.
  • Evidence of developing lesson plans aligned with New
    York State Common Core Standards.
  • Familiarity with the Core Knowledge Language Arts
    (CKLA) curriculum, Fundations

Accepted Data Types (Examples)

  • Standardized benchmark/growth tools (strongest):
    NWEA MAP, i-Ready, STAR, Acadience/DIBELS, state
    assessment trend data (when attributable).
  • School-based common assessments (acceptable):
    network/school interim assessments; unit assessments
    with common scoring guides; standards-based grading
    with clear rubrics.
  • Classroom-level evidence (supporting).
  • Multi-year growth evidence preferred OR repeated
    exceptional outcomes across cohorts.
  • Multiple indicators strongly preferred (2+ data sources).
