Job Summary
MSAP Curriculum Specialist will be housed at a magnet school to create, coach and implement curriculum. In addition, this person is responsible for coaching, modeling, and providing professional development opportunities for teachers.
What you will do

  • Develop, coordinate, and implement a thematic curriculum that integrates the comprehensive school reform model and the magnet theme(s) into the curriculum scope and sequence.
  • Design and facilitate professional development experiences with project staff and partner providers.
  • Coordinate and/or provide staff development and training, including classroom demonstrations, for the implementation of the magnet theme(s) and comprehensive school reform model.
  • Follow a core set of standards about teaching and learning, ongoing professional development, and active team membership.
  • Participate in personal professional growth that leads toward the acquisition of new skills and knowledge related to magnet theme and comprehensive school reform model.
  • Attend required meetings, field experiences, workshops, and conferences.
  • Work with the Director of Magnet Schools, the school's principal, and other district staff to implement the MSAP program. In addition to, work with district level curriculum specialists to ensure the integration and coordination of the magnet theme(s) and the comprehensive school reform model with the district's program.

Additional Requirements

  • May require specialist to be bilingual in English and Spanish, to pass a Spanish language proficiency screener, and to attend annual bilingual teacher trainings.


Education Qualifications

  • Master's Degree Preferred


Experience Qualifications

  • Five years' experience or knowledge of curriculum, adult learning theory, professional development best practices, grants, and curriculum development Required

  • Extensive knowledge of curriculum; as well as, possess technical knowledge and skills to operate computer, enter data, analyze and process information, that show evidence of effective decision-making skills and management skills; and evidence of enthusiasm, job tolerance, initiative and strong work standards for self and others.
