Purpose

The Health Informatics (HI) Medical Director combines expert knowledge of patient care, health informatics concepts, oversight & change management to effectively represent the information & requirements of multi-professionals & patients to promote safe, effective & efficient use of Health Information Technology (HIT) across the Trinity Health care continuum.

TheHI Medical Directorleverages data-driven insights to lead & guide enterprise-level health informatics initiatives within assigned areas of responsibility. This role ensures the accuracy & integrity of clinical & operational reporting & translates complex data into clear, actionable presentations. The role supports performance monitoring, informs strategic decision-making, & drives continuous improvement across the care continuum through effective use of health informatics & analytics

Providing advice, guidance, & leadership to RHM & ministry leaders in developing strategies & in the achievement of performance goals.

Enable Collaboration across & within service area, RHM, & ministries to ensure consistency & integration of strategy & operations

Direction & Growth

Providing advice, guidance, & leadership to RHM, & ministries.

Leading standardization/systemness & optimization of policy, process, methodology, establishing a national community of practice

Oversee Vendor/Contract Labor Management including centralizing strategy & optimizing spend

Strategic Support & Accountability

Collaborates in system-wide strategy development & deployment of functional area priorities & initiatives

Responsible for supporting regional efforts to comply with functional area priorities

Accountable for the selection, evaluation, & overall success of the functional leadership teams

Organization-wide focal point for establishing functional strategies & governance over financials & staffing

Accountable for communication between RHM & ministry leaders

Operational Delivery

Responsible for measuring & reporting KPIs/metrics & value delivery

Providing advice, guidance, & leadership for the colleague life cycle

Maintains a Working Knowledge of applicable federal, state & local laws/regulations, Trinity Health Integrity & Compliance Program & Code of Conduct, as well as other policies & procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical & professional behavior & safe work practices.

Minimum Qualifications

Currently licensed & board-certified physician in their clinical specialty.

Progressive management/leadership experience with a focus in Health Information Technology (HIT) within a multi-hospital healthcare system.

Additional Qualifications (nice to have)

Experience leading the implementation of HIT & health information system projects in acute & ambulatory venues, performance/business process improvement activities, including analyzing clinical workflow processes utilizing continuous process improvement methodologies to ensure the delivery of excellence in patient care.

Experience in leading transformational change, including knowledge & use of change leadership models with process redesign.

Board certification in Clinical Informatics from a national informatics certifying body (board eligible for fellowship-trained)

Fellowship, academic courses, or other formal training in Health Informatics
