Are you an experienced transportation leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys solving complex operational challenges? We are seeking a highly organized and results-driven Long-Distance Relocation Operations Manager to oversee interstate transportation operations, fleet utilization, dispatch coordination, driver support, and operational execution.

This role is responsible for ensuring long-distance household goods shipments are planned, dispatched, and executed safely, efficiently, and profitably while maintaining exceptional service for customers and operational support for drivers and crews.

The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, decisive problem solver, and hands-on leader who can effectively manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accountability and operational excellence.


The Impact You'll Make

As the Long-Distance Relocation Operations Manager, you will play a critical role in coordinating transportation resources, optimizing fleet utilization, supporting drivers, and ensuring the successful execution of interstate relocation services.

Your leadership will directly impact customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, fleet productivity, driver performance, compliance, and overall profitability. This position is ideal for someone who takes ownership, enjoys problem-solving, and excels at managing complex transportation operations.


Key Responsibilities

Long-Distance Transportation Operations

  • Oversee daily long-distance transportation and relocation operations
  • Manage interstate shipment planning, scheduling, and operational execution
  • Coordinate transportation resources to maximize efficiency and profitability
  • Evaluate shipment schedules, routes, and operational priorities to improve performance
  • Monitor shipment progress and proactively address service challenges
  • Identify opportunities to improve fleet utilization and operational productivity


Fleet & Driver Management

  • Oversee fleet readiness, equipment availability, and transportation capacity
  • Coordinate vehicle maintenance schedules, inspections, and equipment needs
  • Monitor GPS tracking, driver progress, and route performance
  • Support drivers and transportation crews throughout the move process
  • Assist with driver communication, scheduling, and operational problem-solving
  • Promote safe and efficient transportation practices


Dispatch & Operational Coordination

  • Manage dispatch activities for long-distance transportation operations
  • Coordinate communication between drivers, crews, customers, sales teams, and operations personnel
  • Respond quickly to route changes, delays, customer requests, equipment issues, and service interruptions
  • Ensure transportation schedules remain on track and customer expectations are met
  • Support load planning, shipment routing, and capacity management efforts
  • Maintain operational visibility and control throughout each move


Compliance, Safety & Quality Assurance

  • Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, company policies, and safety requirements
  • Monitor driver qualification files, fleet documentation, inspections, and transportation records
  • Support accident prevention, safety initiatives, and regulatory compliance efforts
  • Conduct operational reviews and identify opportunities for process improvement
  • Implement corrective action plans when operational or compliance issues arise
  • Maintain high standards of professionalism, safety, and service quality


Leadership & Team Development

  • Provide leadership and operational guidance to dispatchers, drivers, coordinators, and support staff
  • Establish performance expectations and accountability standards
  • Assist with employee coaching, training, and development initiatives
  • Foster strong communication and collaboration across departments
  • Support a culture of professionalism, teamwork, continuous improvement, and customer service excellence


Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in transportation operations, relocation services, logistics, dispatch management, fleet operations, or related leadership roles
  • Strong understanding of long-distance transportation operations and fleet management
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations, safety standards, and transportation compliance requirements
  • Experience managing dispatch functions, transportation scheduling, and driver support
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities
  • Experience with transportation management systems, dispatch software, GPS tracking, and operational reporting tools
  • Household Goods (HHG), moving and storage, relocation, military logistics, or interstate transportation experience strongly preferred
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
