Job Description

Position is responsible for supporting relationship management with logistic suppliers and service providers. Some of the responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Leading the global CT through strategy development, reviewing global Packages before they are reviewed with the leadership team, Compliance reviews, maintaining sourcing pipeline, Business Over Time, strategy presentations, Training global Buyers, etc.

  • Develop and execute a robust procurement strategy based on detailed internal purchase requirements, market trends and technology.

  • Utilize the Global Purchasing Supply Chain sourcing process to manage sourcing packages (RFQ, quote analysis and award) and to establish a capable/competitive supply base

  • Analyze and apply appropriate tools, e.g., benchmarking, competitive sourcing, targeted sourcing, bundling, supplier negotiations etc. to drive best total enterprise cost

  • Negotiate commercial terms - including price, duration, terms, and conditions, etc.

  • Perform rate management activities including spot buys, rate analysis and supplier requests

  • Participate in supplier KPI reviews

  • Develop in-depth analysis on contract and overall business impact, budget activities

  • Collaborate with GM Legal staff to develop and negotiate terms and conditions

  • Drive decision alignment with cross-functional disciplines (Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Finance, Legal, Logistics Engineering/Planning/Operations)

  • Resolve commercial issues, drive continuous improvement, provide innovative ideas to streamline processes and develop savings opportunities.

  • Improve supplier relationships through collaboration, mutual waste elimination and relationship building tools such as the Strategic Supplier Engagement program (SSE)

  • Keep abreast of current industry developments and trends in areas of expertise

  • Adhere to corporate, purchasing and accounting policies and procedures

  • Lead on-going contract governance, compliance and supplier performance

  • Support and lead additional required projects as assigned my management

  • Execute deliverables in support of the logistics organization's business objectives.

  • Ensure business objectives are met or exceeded in all areas including customer, quality, service, responsiveness, people, product and financial initiatives.

  • Identify problems, update or modify work methods that may be complex in the work area without the benefit of defined procedures.

  • Promote GM's values and makes customer-focused decisions.

  • Remove Roadblocks & Resolving Issues/Complaints: Observe and step up to remove roadblocks and resolve potential issues.

Competencies Required:

  • 5+ years relevant work experience in purchasing, supply chain, program/product management, logistics or product development (any internship or co-op experience will not be considered)

  • Ability to work independently and self-directed

  • Demonstrates strong personal initiative

  • Exceptional business acumen

  • Strong personal drive to learn, grow and develop

  • Ability to build positive relationships with demanding cross-functional stakeholders

  • Professional interpersonal verbal and written communication skills

  • High level of organizational skills to prioritize, handle multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously, and meet deadlines

  • Strong analytical ability to solve complex problems

  • Experience managing commercial issues with suppliers and assessing supplier performance

  • Willing to travel 5-10% domestically + internationally

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, related field

  • International logistics experience is preferred
