Job description

Job Purpose
Are you a talented legal content writer with a keen eye for detail, strong legal research skills, and a passion for accuracy, clarity, and creating high-performing content from complex topics? We're looking for a skilled writer with experience in keyword research who can craft content that informs, drives traffic, and converts. This role is ideal for writers who are curious, analytical, and eager to learn-people who enjoy the challenge of untangling a difficult topic and transforming it into something others can easily understand.
Responsibilities
  • Be proficient in our SEO and editorial guidelines: Quickly learn and apply our SEO best practices, editorial processes, and brand voice of our clients to create cohesive and compelling content.
  • Nerd out on research: Perform legal research (i.e., legal statutes, case law, and trial developments) to create quality articles for clients. The best candidate will not just grin and bear it through researching, but will actually thrive in this part of content creation.
  • Deeply understand our clients: Develop a deep understanding of each client's value proposition, brand voice, and content guidelines through in-depth research.
  • Write and optimize content: Create new content and update existing pages, focusing on creating content that completely fulfills the user's intent and leads the user into the conversion funnel.
  • Edit and proofread: Review and edit written content for clarity, coherence, factual accuracy, and grammatical correctness and ensure content follows all brand and other guidelines.
  • Explain complex topics simply: Our content aims to explain complicated legalese in a way that the average individual can understand.
  • Stay open to feedback: Be coachable, flexible, and eager to refine your craft based on input from editors and legal experts.
  • Be willing to learn continuously: SEO is constantly changing, which means we have to stay on top of readings and learnings as Google and LLMs change the game.
  • Be comfortable working with team members virtually. The right fit will be able to work independently, but comfortable reaching out to internal team members for clarification and support when needed.

Requirements
  • Degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Marketing, or other related fields.
  • Experience as a legal content writer (at least 2 years) with a portfolio showcasing your writing, editing, and proofreading skills in this industry.
  • Familiarity with AP style
  • Proven ability to create and optimize content for SEO and LLM retrieval, including keyword research, internal linking, audience targeting, and metadata refinement.
  • Strong attention to detail and research skills
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Experience working with legal content or in the legal field is an asset
