Job description

The site manager is ultimately responsible for regulatory compliance and site inspections. The laboratory manager functions as the liaison between the clinical laboratory, hospital units and lab outreach services.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


1. Supervises the staff at the site. Manages the selection, training, orientation, continuing education laboratory staff, evaluates performance, and makes recommendations for personnel actions. Coordinates clinical rotation for students/interns.
2. Collaborates with Laboratory Quality team, designs and implements a Quality Management process/program to document performance and resolve system problems and service complaints.
3. Collaborates with other network lab managers/network technical specialists to ensures all policies and procedures at the site are in accordance with network and lab accrediting/licensing agencies' standards.
4. The site manager is ultimately responsible for regulatory compliance and site inspections.
5. Ensures proficiency testing meets laboratory accrediting agencies' standards and appropriate follow up and resolution is performed.
6. Coordinates with other network lab managers/network technical specialists to initiate and design method and instrument evaluations.
7. Supervises the maintenance of instrumentation and ensures that resources are available for troubleshooting technical and instrument operations.
8. Prepares the daily work schedule to ensure adequate staffing. Adjusts staffing to accommodate unscheduled staffing concerns. Responsible for FTE productivity.
9. Assumes financial accountability for revenue/compliance, work ques and site capital needs. Explains budget variances in STRATA. Maintains cost effective inventory and efficient use of resources and daily procedures, processes and practices.
10. Performs laboratory tests according to established protocols as scheduled. Maintains
competency in at least one workbench assignment.
11. Maintains effective communication within the department through site meetings and
meetings with Laboratory Medical Director, Laboratory Administrator, and entity leadership.
12. Serves on various hospital/laboratory committees.
13. Other related duties as assigned. May be responsible for a maximum of two individual sites.
14. Delegates responsibilities and duties to employees at the site so the site runs smoothly in
manager's absence.
15. Assists LIS analysts in resolving computer problems; maintains computer operations at the site. Ensures competency of staff for downtime procedures.
16. Maintains confidentiality of all materials handled within the Network/ Entity as well as the proper release of information.

17. Other related duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:


Sitting up to 7 hours per day in 2 hour increments. Standing up to 5 hours per day in 2 hour
increments. Walking up to 7 hours per day in short increments. Frequently uses fingers to
manipulate small vials, pipetting, etc. Continuous use of hands for operation of laboratory
equipment and computer keyboard. Occasional lifting of boxes/equipment up to 30 pounds.
Occasional pushing/pulling of equipment. Frequent stooping/bending. Occasional crouching.
Frequent reaching above shoulder level and stretching across work area (30" depth). Hearing as
it relates to normal, high, and low frequencies. Seeing as it relates to general, far, near, color and
peripheral vision. Depth perception.


EDUCATION:


Bachelor's degree in a chemical or biological science or medical technology from an accredited institution, Masters degree preferred. ASCP eligible.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:


Minimum of five years clinical laboratory experience required. Minimum two years supervisory experience preferred.

MINIMUM - MAXIMUM COMPENSATION PAY RANGE:

$84,000.00 - $134,400.00

St Luke's University Health Network is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this job in certain states and cities within the United States. Final determinations with respect to salary will take into account a number of factors, which may include, but not be limited to the primary work location and the chosen candidate's relevant skills, experience, and education. We will meet minimum wage or minimum of the pay range (whichever is higher) based on state requirements.
