About One Good Turn Global Health

One Good Turn Global Health (OGT) is a nonprofit organization implementing community-led health and education programs worldwide. Since its founding in 2016, OGT has completed 70 medical education projects in 13 countries across 4 continents.

We are currently implementing our SHARE (School Health Agency, Resources, and Education) Program in Kenya and working toward global expansion. SHARE trains local teachers, equipping them with the knowledge and resources to serve as School Health Officers (SHOs) and provide essential health education and care within their schools. To date, SHARE has successfully trained 523 teachers across 133 schools, reaching more than 53,000 students.

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented, and highly organized Fundraising Intern to support OGT's fundraising and development efforts. This role offers hands-on experience in nonprofit fundraising, donor engagement, prospect research, grants management, and development operations.

You will work closely with the Development Director and Development and Communications Manager to strengthen fundraising systems, identify new funding opportunities, support donor cultivation efforts, and help build the infrastructure needed to grow OGT's impact globally.

This internship is ideal for someone interested in nonprofit management, philanthropy, fundraising, international development, global health, or social impact careers.

Responsibilities

Prospect Research & Donor Development

  • Conduct research on prospective individual, foundation, and corporate donors
  • Develop and maintain donor prospect lists aligned with fundraising priorities
  • Prepare donor profiles and briefing materials
  • Research philanthropic trends, funding opportunities, and potential partnerships
  • Support donor stewardship and cultivation activities

Grants Management & Fundraising Operations

  • Assist in identifying and tracking grant opportunities
  • Support maintenance of grant calendars, deadlines, and reporting schedules
  • Help organize grant materials, supporting documents, and application files
  • Assist with grants tracking spreadsheets and development databases
  • Support preparation of grant attachments and background materials

Donor Database & File Management

  • Maintain accurate donor and prospect records
  • Help organize fundraising files, shared drives, and development systems
  • Ensure donor information, contact records, and research materials remain current
  • Support development reporting and data management

Events & Donor Engagement

  • Assist with planning and coordination of donor events, briefings, and cultivation gatherings
  • Support invitation management, guest tracking, and event follow-up
  • Assist with event logistics and donor communications
  • Provide occasional support for in-person events as needed

Development Communications

  • Assist with donor newsletters, impact reports, stewardship materials, and fundraising communications
  • Support development of donor-facing presentations, one-pagers, and fundraising materials
  • Help maintain fundraising outreach trackers and development work plans

General Development Support

  • Document team processes and workflows
  • Support project management and implementation of fundraising initiatives
  • Work independently, identify opportunities for improvement, and proactively contribute ideas
  • Assist with other fundraising and administrative projects as needed

Qualifications

  • Recent graduate or current student in nonprofit management, communications, public health, international development, business, political science, philanthropy, or a related field
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable working independently in a remote environment
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive)
  • Interest in fundraising, philanthropy, nonprofit management, and social impact

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in nonprofit organizations, fundraising, research, events, or administration
  • Experience with donor databases, CRM systems, or fundraising software
  • Familiarity with grant research and proposal development
  • Interest in global health, education, and community-led development
  • Experience organizing systems, spreadsheets, or project management tools

Compensation

This is currently an unpaid internship. Academic credit is welcomed and supported. We will provide any documentation required by your university. If your institution offers scholarships or stipends, we are happy to support that process. At the three-month mark, we will conduct a

performance review that includes the opportunity to discuss stipend compensation. Our ideal candidate is someone who is excited to grow in this role and sees themselves staying on for a year at minimum.
