Job description

The Angell Animal Medical Center is looking for a full time cardiologist to join our team! We currently support two cardiologists (with a third joining this summer!) and three excellent cardiology residents. We have a long (100+ year) history of clinical excellence and have been training cardiology residents since 1988; come to the hospital that first developed specialty veterinary training.

Angell is a values-based organization, where service, excellence, collaboration, integrity, compassion, and positivity play an everyday part in our practice. Our team has a strong focus on client service, patient care, and life-work balance; we are looking for an individual who shares our values. Preference will be given to individuals with backgrounds in teaching and clinical training; experience and interest in interventional cardiology is a plus. Equipment includes three GE E95s within three dedicated echo suites, a GE vivid IQ portable machine, 3D/4D TEE echo probe, and two Philips TC70 PageWriter cardiographs. We have in-house telemetric monitoring, ambulatory ECG systems (Holter and event monitoring; implantable loop recorder), Doppler and oscillometric blood pressures systems. Fully equipped cardiac catheterization lab including c-arm fluoroscopy with power injection for angiography. Well-staffed radiology department with digital radiography, CT, MRI, and nuclear medicine.

Our campus includes the main facility in beautiful Jamaica Plain, as well as Angell West, a satellite clinic in Waltham. The staff includes emergency/critical care department (five specialists, six to eight residents, well-trained ER doctors), avian-exotics department (two specialists, one resident, one specialty intern), oncology (radiation and medical oncology, three specialists, one specialty intern), neurology (three specialists, one specialty intern), surgery (five specialists, three residents, two specialty interns), behavior (two specialists), dermatology (three specialists), dentistry (three specialists), general medicine (eight generalists), internal medicine (six specialists, six residents), four radiologists, two ophthalmologists, and two pathologists (anatomic and clinical pathology). On-site professional development activities include weekly seminars, frequent lunch and learns, and weekly didactic rounds (cardiology, critical care, internal medicine, and surgery). The esteemed Longwood Medical Community (including the Harvard Medical School, Brigham and Women’s, Beth Israel, and the Children’s hospital) is right around the corner, offering opportunities for collaborative work.
