Salary Information: The Public Works Department is currently seeking to fill several part-time unbenefited Undergraduate/Graduate Student Intern in the Engineering Services Division, Survey Section. Salary ranges for this classification are: Undergraduate Student Intern: $15.86- $22.65 per hour (unbenefited) Graduate Student Intern: $20.52- $30.30 per hour (unbenefited) These salary ranges include an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation. Actual salary shall be determined by the final candidates' qualifications and experience

About the Engineering Services Division, Survey Internship: Assist Survey crew with measurements, note-keeping, and field equipment set up. Participates in office data review and field investigations of storm and sanitary sewer manhole/invert dimensions. Performs map and plan reviews under close supervision.

Assist with office record map research and field book scanning. Assist Survey crews with field checks for city street monuments and punching. Perform monument corner record edits with Computer Aided Drafting (CAD).

Calculate simple math and engineering computations. Enter data into spreadsheets and compile reports. The salary ranges for these classifications: Student Intern Salary Range - $15.86- $22.65/hourly (unbenefited) Graduate Student Intern Salary Range - $20.52-$30.30/hourly (unbenefited) This amount includes an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable pay

Actual salary shall be determined by the final candidates' qualifications and experience. Minimum Qualifications Undergraduate Student Intern: Current enrollment in an accredited college or university in an undergraduate program. Graduate Student Intern: Completion of a bachelor's degree and current enrollment in a master's degree program from an accredited college or university.

Licenses & Certificates: Possession of a valid driver's license authorizing the operation of a motor vehicle in the State of California may be required for some positions. Other Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess the following competencies, as demonstrated in past and current employment history. Desirable qualifications for this position include: Self-motivated and takes initiative to learn and grow Effectively communicates and collaborates within a team environment.

Attention to detail Ability to work collaboratively and productively in a small team. Experience working with Google Earth, Microsoft Office, and Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) is desirable.
