Job description

Our team consists of professional engineers, surveyors, ecologists, scientists, geologists, certified planners, and landscape architects located throughout Florida. We have helped guide city, county, and state governmental institutions, as well as private companies, through the design and permitting process for decades. Our extensive list of well-known Florida roads, shopping centers, schools, hospitals, residential communities, resorts, and commercial developments coupled with municipal utilities for water supply/distribution and wastewater collection/treatment show our continued dedication to responsibly develop and improve Florida's communities.

Job Summary: This entry-level Electrical Engineer (EIT) role involves working under the mentorship of a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality designs for municipal and industrial infrastructure projects. You will gain hands-on experience across a variety of projects including power distribution systems, instrumentation, control systems, industrial networks, telemetry, lighting, and generator systems.

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career engineer looking to build a strong technical foundation and progress toward Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.

Your Responsibilities as an Electrical Engineer:

  • Support multi-discipline project teams in the production of electrical design and construction drawings and specifications.
  • Assist in the design of electrical equipment, power distribution, and control systems, including exposure to PLCs, wiring schematics, and industrial network architecture.
  • Perform basic engineering calculations including load calculations, conductor sizing, and assist with transformer sizing and single-line diagrams.
  • Develop NEC-compliant construction drawings for service upgrades and system improvements.
  • Contribute to electrical design efforts for municipal infrastructure projects such as lift stations and irrigation systems, ensuring compliance with NEC and client standards.
  • Assist with construction phase services, including reviewing shop drawings and responding to contractor RFIs.
  • Support field activities such as site visits, inspections, and commissioning/startup of electrical systems.
  • Communicate effectively with internal team members and contribute to technical reports and project documentation.
  • Maintain a strong commitment to learning industry standards, including the National Electric Code (NEC).

What we're looking for:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline required.
  • Engineer Intern (EI/EIT) certification preferred or ability to obtain within 6-12 months.
  • Internship or co-op experience in electrical design, utilities, or infrastructure projects is a plus.
  • AutoCAD experience
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a collaborative team environment.
  • Willingness to perform occasional fieldwork and travel to project sites as needed.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record (required).
  • Sponsorship not available now or in the future.

Why you'll love working for us:

  • Company-subsidized medical and dental.
  • Company-paid life, short, and long-term disability.
  • 401k match, tuition assistance, and more.
  • Cross-training and the ability to work on a variety of projects.
  • Performance-based bonuses or other incentives.
  • Working with the best and brightest in the industry.
  • 2,000+ employee national firm with 70+ locations across the US.
