Purpose of the job
Operate and Maintain APM system and related subsystems at O&M site.
The O&M Technician at Entry level to perform preventive maintenance and corrective action repairs to the AGTS wayside System, subsystems, components and APM vehicles. With appropriate training and acquired experience, O&M technician will be required APM trains recovery of stalled trains. This position is also required to learn and operate the AGTS System from Central Control.
Key responsibilities and challenges
  • Operate, troubleshoot and repair Central Control computer console, Wayside systems, vehicles and components as assigned.
    • Inspect vehicles and related equipment to detect failed or improperly operating equipment.
    • Operate trains, doors, guideway switches, and power distribution systems in a manual mode.
    • Perform electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems inspection following established procedures or other written or verbal instructions.
    • Repair or replace defective parts or equipment utilizing manuals, drawings, specs, and other written or verbal instructions.
  • Support recovery of malfunctioning vehicles from system as needed.
    • Respond to system failures to recover vehicles and restore system operation.
    • Respond to customer requests in a timely fashion.
    • Assist passengers during emergency operations.
  • Conduct thorough and complete preventive maintenance checks on vehicles, systems, and subsystems as assigned.
  • Achieve and maintain all functional certifications in assigned area.
  • Continuous learning and progression through training program.
    • Participate in training programs.

Background / Experience
  • 2 years of experience in maintenance, operations, manufacturing, transportation, industrial equipment, facilities, or a related technical environment.
    • Internship, apprenticeship, vocational placement, or military technical training may be accepted in place of direct rail experience.
  • Exposure to mechanical, electrical, electromechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, or low-voltage systems preferred.
  • Basic understanding of inspection, fault identification, repair, and preventive maintenance activities.
  • Experience using hand tools, power tools, measuring devices, and basic diagnostic equipment preferred.
  • Ability to read and follow technical procedures, maintenance instructions, checklists, and safety rules.
  • Ability to work in depots, workshops, trackside areas, or other active rail environments.
  • Strong attention to detail, reliability, and willingness to learn rail systems, operating rules, and maintenance processes.

Education
  • Technical diploma, vocational certificate, or associate degree in maintenance, industrial technology, electrical, mechanical, instrumentation, or a related field required.
  • Relevant certifications such as OSHA, safety training, electrical/mechanical maintenance, or operator qualifications are a plus.

Key Skills
  • Basic computer skills for maintenance logs, CMMS, or reporting.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to follow procedures and work independently after training.
  • Physical ability to lift tools/materials, stand for long periods, climb ladders, and work in industrial environments.

Additional Requirements or Conditions of Employment
  • Must be able to work a 24/7/365 schedule, including weekends and holidays.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to pass required background screening and drug testing.
  • Must be able to safely work from elevated work areas and use ladders as required.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate in written and spoken English for safety and operational purposes.

Compensation
Starting rate: $40.89 DOE
