Job Summary This position operates a truck along an assigned route to collect solid waste. Major Duties Operates a truck along an assigned route to collect solid waste. Unloads truck at landfill.
Conducts vehicle inspections to ensure safety and operability; performs minor maintenance and repairs. Resolve customer service complaints. Repairs and maintains carts.
Mows and trims grass and weeds. Performs related duties. Minimum Qualifications Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.
Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years. Must possess a current and valid Alabama Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL). Knowledge of department and city policies and procedures.
Knowledge of equipment operation, maintenance, and repair principles. Skill in planning, organization, and decision making. Skill in providing customer services.
Skill in oral and written communication. Supplemental Information Guidelines City and department policies and procedures. These guidelines are generally clear and specific, but may require some interpretation in application.
