OverviewOverview

The Philadelphia Gas Works (PGW) is the largest municipally-owned gas utility in the nation, supplying gas service in the City of Philadelphia to over 500,000 customers.  From its humble beginnings in 1836, PGW has grown into the large, modern facility that exists today.  As one of the nation's leading natural gas providers, PGW prides itself on stability and continual growth.  PGW is dedicated to becoming the Greenest Natural Gas Delivery Company in the region.

The PGW Internship Program is designed for students currently enrolled FULL-TIME at an accredited college or university with a sophomore classification or above ONLY.

Responsibilities
  • Assists in all areas with PGW for information security related projects conferring as required with management, developmental personnel, risk assessment staff, auditors, lawyers, facilities, other security departments and other relevant personnel to identify and implement security plans for data, software applications, hardware, telecommunications and computer installations.
  • Analyzes the information environment and development of security measures to safeguard information against accidental, deliberate or unauthorized modification, destruction or disclosure.
  • Assists with identifying and documenting business information security needs, objectives, procedures, and problems. 
  • Assists as needed in security incidents or investigations for external incidents or intrusions as well as internal incidents such as inappropriate use of company systems, networks, tools.
  • Researches and investigates current industry direction and trends as the apply to PGW.
  • Assists with general security support and training to employees and contractors. 
  • Assists with promoting best practices with regard to information security for all employees.
  • Assists with designing, developing and managing effective security metrics.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Be a full-time student enrolled in an accredited university or college
  • Pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field.
  • Passionate about Cyber Security
  • Must be in good academic standing
