Job Description SummaryThe Internship Ambassador supports Saint Leo University Career Services in guiding students through every stage of the internship process-from preparation to placement to on-site success-while also assisting in employer engagement and program development. Under the supervision of the Director of Career Services, the Ambassador will conduct cold calls to support, but not limited to, initiatives such as recruiting organizations for career fairs and special events; calling students to increase participation in engagement programs; and promoting internship opportunities to both students and employers. The role includes creating and executing strategies to help employers start or grow internship programs, recruiting new employer partners, and preparing students for success in their placements through resume guidance, interview preparation, and professional development coaching. The Ambassador will also gain a working understanding of internship-related laws and best practices from both the student and employer perspectives, using this knowledge-under the Director's guidance-to assist employer partners in developing or refining internship handbooks that foster meaningful, compliant, and mutually beneficial experiences.Job Description

General Responsibilities
  • Answer office phones, transfer calls, and take messages for professional staff as directed by supervisor.
  • Greet and assist all office visitors; maintain an organized, confidential workspace.
  • Assist students with navigating platforms such as Handshake, AIM, and other approved tools.
  • Perform general clerical tasks including filing, organizing resources, and data entry.
  • Complete required onboarding and ongoing training.
  • Participate in weekly team meetings.
  • Provide courteous and professional customer service in person and over the phone.
  • Support other Student Affairs teams as assigned by supervisor.

Internship & Career Services-Specific Responsibilities

  • Guide students through internship preparation steps, including resume reviews, mock interviews, Handshake profile optimization, and professional social media presence.
  • Assist students in identifying and applying for internships in Handshake and other approved platforms.
  • Promote professionalism, time management, multi-tasking, and networking skills to support students' on-site internship success.
  • Conduct cold calls to prospective interns and employers to support engagement, recruitment, and special event participation.
  • Create and execute strategies, under the Director's supervision, to help employers develop or enhance internship programs.
  • Assist employers-under guidance-with creating or refining internship handbooks that align with best practices and legal requirements.
  • Recruit new employer partners to increase internship opportunities for students.
  • Assist with event logistics, including internship fairs, workshops, and employer spotlights.
  • Approve job and employer requests in Handshake under supervision.
  • Support Career Closet fittings for internship attire and manage inventory tracking.
  • Co-create internship-focused promotional materials and social media content in Canva or other tools.
  • Collaborate with Career Services professional staff on classroom visits, presentations, and special projects.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Comfortable speaking with students and employer partners in person and by phone.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
  • Commitment to confidentiality, punctuality, and respectful engagement.
  • Demonstrated professionalism and alignment with Saint Leo University Core Values.
  • Ability to treat all students, staff, and guests with dignity and courtesy.

Preferred:

  • Experience with Canva or social media content creation.
