Completes assessments as indicated and documents patients response to treatment. Plans, organizes and conducts therapy sessions on an individual and group basis, and evaluates process of patients. The purpose of Activity therapy is to facilitate positive changes in patients basic functional ability, achieve improved independent functioning, and to make the hospital experience positive and growth oriented. These changes are accomplished through therapy, education, and recreation. Position Details: Mercy Hospital South- Behavioral Health 40 Hours per week
  • Education: Bachelor's degree and internship in related area required.
  • Experience: Experience working with patients with mental illness and chemical dependency,
  • Other: Individual must be knowledgeable of mental illness disorders and be able to provide appropriate therapeutic interventions that enable the patient's recovery. Skills in providing educational and group therapy interventions, assessment of patients psychosocial functioning, and knowledge of appropriate community resources.
  • Preferred Experience: Experience working with patients across the lifespan (pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric)
  • Preferred Certifications: Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS), Registered Art Therapist (ATR), Certified Music Therapist or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
