Position Announcement
The Department of Health and Human Performance at Utah Tech University in St. George, Utah, invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position in Exercise Science to start January 2026 (Spring Semester) or August 2026 (Fall Semester). This position directly supports the Exercise Science degree programs, which include pre-Physical Therapy (PT), pre-Occupational Therapy (OT), and pre-Athletic Training (AT) emphases. Candidates with a specialization in Sport and Exercise Psychology, Motor Development, and Exercise Programming for Special or At-Risk Populations are preferred but consideration will be given to all qualified applicants. Responsibilities
  • Teach 24 credits per academic year, primarily in-person, but with online teaching options. Instruction may include a combination of classroom/lab teaching and/or internship supervision.
    • Courses may include but are not limited to Sport and Exercise Psychology, Motor Development, Exercise Programming for At-Risk Populations, Applied Fitness Development for Older Adults, and other Exercise Science related courses.
  • Design curriculum and create student experiences/internships reflective of the University's theme "active learning. active life."
  • Hold regular office hours, attend regular department meetings, vote on department issues, and advise on student assessment as needed.
  • Serve on University, college, and department committees and engage in community, University, departmental, program, and professional discipline service activities.
  • Engage in scholarly and creative activities resulting in the sharing of knowledge through teaching, presentations, publications, and other appropriate outlets.
  • Develop and maintain supporting relationships with community, state, national, and international organizations.
  • Advise and prepare students for credentialing licensure exams through ACSM, NSCA, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Doctorate degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or a related field required. ABD candidates will be considered. Candidates with a specialization or degreein Sports Psychology or Motor Development is preferred.
  • Evidence of or potential for excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels (finalists will be required to demonstrate competence via a teaching demonstration).
  • Evidence of clinical or sport performance work-related experience in exercise science is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with students, staff and colleagues, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to develop collaborative relationships with faculty and administrators across disciplines and with other members of discipline-related external organizations.
  • Evidence of scholarship in the form of refereed publications, paper presentations, published abstracts, etc.

Supplemental Information
POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Full-time (9-month) tenure-track faculty position. Faculty service begins August 2026, with pay and benefits starting July 1, 2026. Annual salary of $61,000-$66,000 depending on qualifications and experience, with additional compensation available for optional summer/overload teaching.
