Sherburne County Health & Human Services offers internship opportunities for students to enhance their academic studies with real world experience. Through internship placements, students receive relevant training while providing a valuable public service to the community. Sherburne County provides a comprehensive and rewarding intern experience.
To qualify for an internship: candidates must be enrolled in a post-secondary, graduate-level or practicum program in coursework relevant to the duties of the internship.
Internships may be part-time or full-time. Some college programs require a minimum number of hours for a student to earn college credits for their internship. Students should discuss these requirements with their academic advisor.
Before an intern would be allowed to start they must complete an interview, pass a criminal background check, and Sherburne County must have a valid internship contract on file with the associated school. All interns must abide by all Sherburne County and Health & Human Services Department policies and procedures.
Internship opportunities at Health & Human Services in Sherburne County are unpaid and are not benefit eligible.

This position is located at the Government Center in Elk River, MN. Our regular business hours are Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm, though the department provides staff with flexibility in effort to strive for a desired work/life balance. Minimum Qualifications
The program is open to students pursing an undergraduate or graduate degree; or in a qualifying field of study which requires internship hours.
For WIC you must be in a Nutrition program such as Nutritional Sciences, Community Nutrition, Clinical Nutrition or Dietetics, or Master of Public Health with a nutrition focus.
For Healthy Communities you must in a Community Health, Health Education, or Public Health program.
Applicants must also meet the following criteria:
At least 18 years of age.
In good academic standing.
Must currently be enrolled during their interning semester.
Recommended by the college/university.
Experience Required: None.
Supervisory/Managerial Responsibility: None.
