Position Summary
The Coordinator, Workforce Learning Connection works directly with employers, non-profits, chambers of commerce, STLCC faculty and staff, and other community organizations to create and promote career exploration and Workforce Learning Connection (WLC) opportunities. This position will be a key member of St. Louis Community College's Workforce Learning Connection (WLC) team, which provides career exploration and work-based learning programming for 6th-12th grade students. The WLC Programs Coordinator ensures all programming aligns with one or more of the College's academic and career pathways and provides meaningful exposure to high-demand careers, postsecondary opportunities, and industry-recognized credentials for their assigned pathways. The role requires strong relationship-building skills, program management expertise, and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Primary Duties Performed
- Design and implement career exploration and work-based learning experiences aligned with one or more of the College's academic pathways.
- Coordinate a range of programming, including job shadows, industry tours, guest speakers, career events, campus visits, client-connected projects, and exposure to apprenticeships and industry credentials.
- Ensure programs are developmentally appropriate, scaffolded across grade levels, and include career readiness preparation.
- Collaborate with the Dual Credit/Dual Enrollment (DCDE) team to support CTE Academy students, educators, counselors, and related programming.
- Collaborate with the Employer Engagement Team to maintain partnerships with employers, industry leaders, sector groups, and community organizations and create programming for students that maximizes the partnership.
- Serve as the primary WLC contact for external stakeholders within assigned career pathways.
- Work with employers and volunteers to plan and execute career-related experiences and events.
- Partner with K-12 schools to coordinate scheduling, logistics, implementation, and student participation.
- Collaborate with deans, faculty, academic affairs, and internal teams (WLC, DCDE, K-12 Programs, Employer Engagement) to align programming with academic outcomes and workforce needs.
- Manage program operations, including scheduling, site coordination, transportation considerations, registration, communication, and on-site event support.
- Maintain accurate records, participation data, reporting, and program documentation.
- Evaluate program effectiveness through data and feedback, refine processes to ensure quality, and stay current on workforce trends to help students connect education to career pathways.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Experience
- Bachelor's Degree with three (3) years of full-time equivalent experience in a post-secondary education or secondary education setting or three (3) years of full-time equivalent experience in business, project management, workforce development, employer engagement, internship coordination, career services, or related field.
- Existing business connection and successful related experience in both business and education is preferred.
Working Conditions
- Office environment with frequent travel to businesses, industries, schools, and agencies.
- Participation in events during non-traditional work hours.
- Must have reliable transportation for travel up to 100 miles.
