What you bring to the table
Beck is looking for a qualified Senior Preconstruction Engineer to join an extraordinary project team. While this is an individual role, you will be involved in many facets of preconstruction with the ability to evolve our existing operations. As the Senior Preconstruction Engineer, you will support the team leader on preconstruction duties and responsibilities by leading projects or scopes of work from $0M to $5M in size with oversight.
The position involves the following essential functions:
• Provide accurate quantity takeoffs and initial pricing
• Independently estimate Interior, Envelope, Site, and Structure Scopes of work with minimal direction and understand applicable specifications sections
• Organize and develop an estimate using UniFormat, MasterFormat (49 Divisions), and a Bid Tabulation
• Develop and maintain project related documents (estimates, drawings/models, other) in a consistent, organized structure
• Comfortable command of preconstruction technologies such as DESTINI Estimator, Revit, BIM360, & Procore, as well as adjacent technologies such as MS Office suite of products, Bluebeam and Power BI.
• Perform bid day process accurately and reliably
• Understand basic scheduling and lead times
• Interact successfully and in a professional manner with subcontractors / vendors
• Assist in the pre-qualification of subcontractors / vendors and management of the sub database
• Proficiently and regularly administer one or more BIM tools in daily practice
• Effectively supervise and mentor Preconstruction Engineers and Interns
• Reliably execute overhead, fee, and insurance add-ons, and billable wage rates and benefits
• Participate in presentations to clients
• Deliver preconstruction deliverable content including cost estimates, supporting detail and documentation, and graphics in a professional manner
• Demonstrate excellence in the pursuit of daily tasks and responsibilities while expressing flexibility in the means and methods deployed to help the organization achieve its higher goals

You also meet the following requirements:
• 2+ years of relevant construction and/or preconstruction experience
• College graduate with a relevant degree
• Previous experience working with common estimating software & technology is required. Previous experience with DESTINI Profiler and or DESTINI Estimator is a plus
• Willingness to grow technical competencies is expected. Primary software usage will include DESTINI Estimator for core estimating functions, 2D on-screen quantity-takeoff functions, and BIM360 for model-based/integrated estimating
• Other software that will be used to support this role include Microsoft Office Suite, Procore, Revit, and Power BI
Physical Demands:
Frequently operates a computer and other office productivity equipment; frequently ascends/descends ladders and stairs; constantly works in various outdoor weather conditions; frequently moves equipment up to 50Ibs to various locations on site; constantly communicates with subcontractors, vendors, and other members of project team; ability to constantly move around job site on uneven surfaces; Spends much of the day standing. Ability to adhere to consistent and timely attendance.
