Job description

The Texas State Aquarium provides high quality, entertaining programming through education, conservation, and wildlife rehabilitation. We strive to provide our guests with an exciting, educational, and memorable experience.

Responsibilities include but are not limed to:
  • Lead in the development and execution of marketing and advertising plans to drive attendance, increase revenue, and advance organizational priorities.
  • Serve as the Aquarium’s primary day-to-day point of contact for marketing-related matters.
  • Coordinate and supervise photographers, film crews, and other content producers while on site.
  • Apply intermediate level graphic design skills to create and edit materials using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and other applicable creative platforms.
  • Coordinate events with other departments such as animal releases, marketing public events, and other organization initiatives.
  • Work with CEAO to ensure the integrity and consistency of the Aquarium’s brand across all department materials and communications.
  • Work closely with the Communications Manager to coordinate campaigns, creative materials, digital content, organizational storytelling, and media opportunities.
  • Oversee the organization, maintenance, and appropriate use of Aquarium’s photography, video, and creative asset libraries on public server and website.
  • Provide strategic and creative marketing support to Aquarium departments.
  • Develop and manage the marketing budget in coordination with the CEAO, including annual budget preparation, forecasting, implementation, and ongoing expense monitoring.
  • Directly oversee the execution and administration of the advertising budget, including media placement, invoice review, reconciliation, and performance evaluation.
  • Coordinate advertising placements directly with media vendors or through third-party agencies.
  • Oversee the Aquarium’s social media strategy and execution, driving audience growth, engagement, and active online communities across all platforms.
  • Oversee the Aquarium’s website content, ensuring information remains accurate, engaging, accessible, current, and consistent with organizational priorities and brand standards.
  • Establish, evaluate, and benchmark key performance indicators for marketing campaigns, website performance, social media, email marketing, and advertising initiatives.
  • Supervise, coach, and evaluate work of the Marketing and Communications Associate and Marketing and Communications Assistant, interns, and volunteers; including assigning responsibilities, monitoring performance, and supporting professional development.
  • Lead and participate in all stages of the creative process, from concept development and creative direction through production, approval, and delivery.
  • Manage relationships with contracted agencies and vendors to ensure goals, deliverables, timelines, budgets, and quality expectations are met.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with tourism partners, other attractions, community organizations, and industry groups.
Requirements
Bachelors degree from four-year college or university; one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
