POSITION IS 100% ONSITE DAILY IN NORCO, CA

Job Summary

VSolvit is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Junior Software Developer (C++) to join our team supporting the development and maintenance of mission-critical analysis applications for the U.S. Navy. This position is ideal for an early-career software developer who is eager to expand their technical skills, contribute to meaningful projects, and work alongside experienced engineers in a collaborative environment.

The selected candidate will work within an Agile SAFe environment and participate in the design, development, testing, and maintenance of desktop-based software applications. This role provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience with modern software development practices while contributing to the modernization and sustainment of critical defense systems.

Successful candidates will possess a solid foundation in software development principles, strong problem-solving abilities, and a willingness to learn new technologies and processes. Candidates with internship experience, academic projects, personal software projects, or professional development experience are encouraged to apply.

As with any position, additional expectations exist. These include adhering to established work schedules, meeting project deadlines, complying with company policies and procedures, communicating effectively with supervisors and team members, maintaining focus on assigned objectives, and performing other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Agile Scrum teams to develop, test, and maintain desktop software applications

  • Develop software solutions using C++ under the guidance of senior developers and technical leads

  • Participate in software design, implementation, debugging, and testing activities

  • Apply object-oriented programming principles and software engineering best practices

  • Assist in troubleshooting software defects and performance issues

  • Support the enhancement and modernization of existing desktop applications

  • Participate in code reviews and technical discussions

  • Develop and maintain technical documentation as required

  • Work closely with software engineers, systems engineers, testers, and government stakeholders

  • Participate in sprint planning, daily standups, retrospectives, and other Agile ceremonies

  • Support software integration, deployment, and sustainment activities

Basic Qualifications
  • 0–4 years of software development experience, including professional, internship, academic, military, or personal project experience

  • Proficiency in C++ with a focus on desktop application development

  • Experience developing, maintaining, or enhancing desktop applications using C++

  • Understanding of object-oriented programming principles

  • Familiarity with multi-threading, concurrency, or asynchronous programming concepts

  • Familiarity with Git source control, including committing, branching, merging, and pull request workflows

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to learn quickly and work effectively in a team environment

  • U.S. Citizenship required

  • Active Secret DoD Security Clearance required

  • CompTIA Security+ Certification required

  • If applicable: If you are or have been recently employed by the U.S. Government, a post-employment ethics letter will be required if employment with VSolvit is offered

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline

  • Experience with Agile methodologies such as Scrum or SAFe

  • Familiarity with Atlassian tools such as Jira and Confluence

  • Experience with desktop application development

  • Familiarity with CMake for configuring, building, and managing C++ projects

  • Familiarity with modern C++ standards (C++11/14/17/20)

  • Familiarity with Python scripting and automation

  • GIS (Geographic Information Systems) experience is a plus

  • Experience supporting government, defense, or regulated environments is a plus

  • Active Top Secret Clearance is a plus
