Job description

We are seeking an early-career Software Engineer to support the development of software for laboratory and bioprocessing systems. The successful candidate will work with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to develop reliable, maintainable software that interfaces with physical instruments and supports scientific workflows.Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain applications using C# and .NET.
  • Develop data-access components and database functionality using PostgreSQL.
  • Build and deploy software components using Docker containers.
  • Participate in software design discussions, code reviews, and Agile development activities.
  • Create unit and integration tests and assist with system-level testing.
  • Troubleshoot software defects and contribute to root-cause analysis.
  • Develop and maintain REST APIs and interfaces between software components.
  • Produce technical documentation in accordance with the software development lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with software, electrical, mechanical, systems, QA, and product teams.
  • Support the integration of software with pumps, sensors, controllers, and other laboratory instrumentation.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Up to three years of professional software development experience, including internships or cooperative education.
  • Working knowledge of C# and the .NET platform.
  • Familiarity with relational databases and SQL; PostgreSQL experience is preferred.
  • Basic understanding of Docker and containerized application development.
  • Understanding of object-oriented programming and software design principles.
  • Experience using Git or another source-control system.
  • Familiarity with unit testing, debugging, and software defect tracking.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to learn new technologies and work effectively within a collaborative engineering team.

Nice to Have Qualifications
  • Experience developing software for laboratory, medical, industrial, or scientific instruments.
  • Experience communicating with hardware through serial, Ethernet, USB, OPC UA, or similar protocols.
  • Familiarity with industrial Linux or embedded computing platforms.
  • Experience with REST APIs and distributed or service-based architectures.
  • Exposure to Jira and Confluence.
  • Familiarity with regulated software development, including GAMP 5, GxP, or medical-device quality systems.
  • Basic understanding of process-control concepts, sensors, data acquisition, or PID control.

The estimated base salary range for this role, based in the United States of America is $72,000-$103,500. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to an individual's qualifications, location, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, employees are eligible to participate in one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package. We offer a wide range of benefits such as paid time off, health/dental/vision, retirement benefits and flexible spending accounts.
