About Us
Albany State University is a fully accredited senior unit of the University System of Georgia. Location
Our West Campus is located at 2400 Gillionville Road, Albany, GA 31707. Our East Campus is located at 504 College Drive, Albany, GA 31705. The Human Resources office for both campuses is located on the West Campus in Building K, Suite 111.
Job Summary
The Head Strength and Conditioning Coach is responsible for the overall operation, oversight, and development of the University's strength and conditioning program, including the design and implementation of performance programming for student-athletes, in accordance with University, University System of Georgia (USG), SIAC, PBC, and NCAA regulations.
Sponsorship is not available for this position.
Responsibilities
Program Development and Implementation:
  • Design and implement sport-specific strength and conditioning programs for all varsity sports teams.
  • Collaborate with coaches to tailor conditioning programs to individual team needs and goals.
  • Continually assess and modify programs based on progress, injury prevention, and peak performance.

Fueling Stations Oversight:
  • Oversee the satellite fueling station located within Sanford Hall in support of strength and conditioning operations for all student-athletes
  • Ensure fueling stations adhere to NCAA guidelines for permissible snacks and supplements, in coordination with assigned staff.
  • Coordinate inventory oversight, budgeting considerations, and procurement processes for fueling station in collaboration with designated staff.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and safety standards of the fueling station.

Team and Athlete Education :
  • Educate athletes on proper strength training techniques, injury prevention, and recovery strategies.
  • Collaborate with nutrition staff to educate athletes on optimal nutrition for performance and recovery.

Staff Management and Development:
  • Hire, train, and supervise interns and work study students.
  • Mentor and develop interns and work-study students to ensure the delivery of high-quality programs.

Administrative Duties:
  • Manage and maintain the strength and conditioning facilities, ensuring they are clean, safe, and up-to-date.
  • Coordinate scheduling of team workouts to maximize facility use and reduce conflicts.
  • Stay updated on the latest research, equipment, and techniques in strength and conditioning.

Collaboration:
  • Work closely with athletic trainers to coordinate injury prevention and rehabilitation efforts.
  • Participate in department meetings and collaborate with other staff for the holistic development of student-athletes.

Operate within all University, USG, SIAC, PBC and NCAA Division II regulations.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree.
At least two years of experience as a credentialed strength and conditioning coach in progressively responsible positions.
License: Requires certification by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) or Collegiate Strength and Condition Coaches Association (CSCCA), National Council on Strength & Fitness (NCSF-CSC).
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree.
Demonstrated strength & conditioning experience at the collegiate level.
Preferred current first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and automated external defibrillation (AED) certifications.
