Steel Dynamics

Steel Dynamics is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounting Intern to support Flat Roll Group accounting initiatives beginning in Summer 2026, with continued employment through Fall 2026 and the potential to extend into Spring 2027 based on business needs and student availability.

This internship offers hands on experience working with accounting systems, operational reporting, and financial standardization initiatives across multiple divisions within one of the largest steel producers in North America.


  • Assist with Flat Roll Group accounting and reporting initiatives
  • Support efforts to standardize financial and operational reporting metrics across divisions
  • Analyze and reconcile reporting differences related to material tracking methodologies
  • Work with accounting and operations teams to improve consistency in unit of measure reporting and material classification
  • Assist with data validation, reporting accuracy, and process documentation
  • Compile and organize financial and operational data from multiple business units
  • Participate in special projects related to accounting systems and reporting improvements
  • Communicate professionally with team members across multiple Steel Dynamics divisions

  • Currently enrolled in an Accounting, Finance, Business Analytics, Economics, or related degree program
  • Students must have completed both their freshman and sophomore years prior to the start of the internship
  • Must reside in or near Fort Wayne, Indiana during the internship

This processed scrap is then sold to end-users for reuse, including our EAF steel mills, which produce new steel from the scrapped material.
