Description
The Field Service Engineer - Medical Equipment is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, repairing, calibrating, and maintaining medical equipment used in hospitals, outpatient clinics, and healthcare facilities throughout the assigned territory. Equipment serviced includes hospital beds, exam tables, and self-service blood pressure kiosks.
This field-based position combines hands-on mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, customer support, technical documentation, and regional travel. The company provides extensive technical training and career development, making this an excellent opportunity for technicians with industrial, military, automotive, biomedical, or electromechanical backgrounds looking to transition into the healthcare technology industry.
Must-Have Skills, Experience, and Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree, military technical training, or trade school certification preferred.
  • One of the following:
    • 2-4 years of experience in field service, industrial maintenance, electronics, mechanical repair, biomedical equipment, automotive, military technical, or similar technical field.
    • Associate degree or technical certification with at least one year of hands-on technical experience (internships and apprenticeships considered).
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting aptitude.
  • Ability to read and interpret:
    • Wiring diagrams
    • Electrical schematics
    • Technical manuals
    • Service documentation
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Proof of automobile liability insurance.
  • Willingness to travel throughout the assigned territory.

Requirements:
  • Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain medical equipment including hospital beds, exam tables, and blood pressure kiosks.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, calibration, electrical and mechanical safety testing, and performance verification.
  • Complete Field Modification Instructions (FMIs), warranty repairs, recalls, equipment upgrades, and corrective maintenance.
  • Diagnose electrical, mechanical, electromechanical, pneumatic, and basic electronic system failures.
  • Document service work, repairs, parts usage, and customer interactions using the ServiceMax platform.
  • Travel throughout the assigned territory to complete scheduled and emergency service calls.
  • Build and maintain professional customer relationships with healthcare personnel.
  • Utilize diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and manufacturer service procedures safely.
  • Coordinate with dispatch and technical support to complete work orders efficiently.
  • Maintain company quality, safety, and documentation standards.

Nice-to-Have Skills, Experience, and Education:
  • Biomedical equipment or medical device service experience.
  • Healthcare technology experience.
