Quality Inspector in partnership with a prominent client in Binghamton, NY within the Machining industry.
Quality Inspector Job SummaryPay: $22 - $24 per hour
Shift: 1st
Quality Inspector Responsibilities: - Conducts in-process evaluations to verify that both dimensional and cosmetic requirements are being met during manufacturing and at final inspection stages.
- Communicates discrepancies and coordinates necessary adjustments or rework with relevant team members, including participation in Material Review Board (MRB) meetings.
- Records inspection outcomes in relevant documentation such as First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs), quality logs, and inspection checklists.
- Performs product and process audits using a variety of measurement tools including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, thread gauges, pin gauges, gloss meters, thickness testers, etc.
- Supports the calibration and maintenance of inspection equipment, including tagging, tracking, and updating records in the calibration database.
- Collaborates with production and quality teams to implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Offers guidance, support, and informal training to production staff regarding quality standards and issues.
- May work across multiple departments, such as sheet metal fabrication, machining, welding, surface preparation, coating/painting, assembly, and final product verification.
- May perform inspections on incoming raw materials, outsourced services, and externally manufactured parts as needed.
- May receive training to operate advanced equipment such as CMM machines and FARO Arms.
Quality Inspector Qualifications: - High School Diploma/ GED
- Experience in a mechanical fabrication or manufacturing setting
- Excellent blue print reading/interpretation skills
- Good understanding of GD&T.
- Ability to use wide range of precision measuring equipment (calipers, micrometers, height gages, gage blocks, thread gages, pin gages, etc.)
- Past experience or willing to learn CMM (i.e. Brown and Sharp Global Advantage with PC-DMIS software) and portable CMM (i.e. FARO ARM - EDGE version) measuring equipment.
- Proficient with geometry and trigonometry (machine shop math)
- Knowledge in machining, sheet metal, welding, spotwelding, painting and powder coating, plating, assembly.
- Willing to take training to be an AWS Certified Associate Welding Inspector (AWS-CAWI) would be an asset
