Job description

The Business Data Analyst is an entry point to the Strategic Improvement Team at H Mart.

Serving as a data analyst, the candidate will collect, analyze, and visualize retail, supply chain, and financial data and use AI to accelerate research and reporting, helping the team improve business performance across retail and distribution operations.

  • Data Analysis: Collect, analyze, and interpret retail, supply chain, financial, inventory, and operational data using SQL, Excel, and business intelligence tools.
  • Reporting: Identify trends, opportunities, and operational improvements, and build reports, dashboards, and executive summaries that support decision making. Ensure the accuracy and integrity of business data used for analysis and reporting.
  • AI-Assisted Research: Use Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, and other AI tools to research trends, summarize information, prepare presentations, and support Strategic Improvement initiatives. Verify AI-generated information using internal data, trusted sources, and sound business judgment.
  • Financial and Performance Reporting: Support the review of financial reports, budgets, operating expenses, and performance metrics, and help surface opportunities for improvement.
  • Continuous Learning: Build knowledge of business analytics, retail and supply chain trends, emerging AI tools, and continuous improvement methods.

Education and Qualification:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Data Analytics, Supply Chain Management, Information Systems, or a related field preferred.
  • One to two years of experience in data analysis or business analytics, or equivalent internship or academic experience.
  • Proficiency in Excel with working knowledge of SQL and Power BI.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Interest in using AI to improve productivity, research, and analysis.

  • Uses AI responsibly and handles company information with care.
