What is an internship in environmental accounting?

Internship positions in environmental accounting are entry-level roles designed for students or recent graduates to gain practical experience in applying accounting principles to environmental issues. Interns typically assist with tracking and analyzing environmental costs, auditing sustainability initiatives, and helping organizations comply with environmental regulations. These internships provide exposure to both accounting and environmental management practices, preparing interns for careers in this growing field. Interns may work with data collection, reporting, and supporting senior staff on projects related to environmental impact assessments and sustainability reporting.

What types of projects or tasks can I expect to work on during an environmental accounting internship?

Typical tasks include gathering and organizing sustainability metrics, supporting the preparation of environmental reports, and helping to evaluate the financial impact of various environmental initiatives. This role provides valuable hands-on experience with both environmental data and financial analysis, which can help you build a strong foundation for a career in environmental or sustainability accounting.
