Richelieu Foods, Inc. is a leading national private label and contract packing food manufacturer focused on frozen pizza. We have two manufacturing facilities located in IL and WI. We provide products to many national retailers, wholesalers, distributors, club and mass stores, as well as industrial accounts including other food manufacturers.
Job Summary
Richelieu Foods, Inc., a leading supplier of high-quality private brand food products to the retail and food service industries, is seeking a Controls Engineer, who will provide electrical and controls support for Production, Engineering and Maintenance. This role will collaborate with Engineering to define scope, design, estimates and oversight for the electrical portion of capital projects.
This position will support Maintenance by developing technical documentation, troubleshooting, training and coaching. The ideal candidate will be well versed in the NEC and provide advice on all code and electrical safety matters for Richelieu Foods, Inc.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Drive a safety culture that prioritizes safe work practices and procedures, ensure all activities align with regulatory requirements that may apply, e.g., OSHA, EPA, USDA, state and local building and fire code regulations.
  • Ensure reliability of the electrical system (low and high voltage).
  • Optimize electrical/process control maintenance, hardware and operation costs.
  • Facilitate collaboration across departments to provide necessary support and expertise for the execution of capital investment projects.
  • Participate in the Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) of new equipment and validate electricity and automation requirements.
  • Participate in the procurement process, programming tasks and contribute to all phases in capital projects that require electrical and controls support.
  • Ensure that project scopes are achieved within the agreed cost and timing.
  • Provide PLC and HMI software and hardware support for the factory.
  • Participate in the long-term electrical and controls infrastructure plan for all sites
  • Maintain current and complete electrical and controls as-built documentation.
  • All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience and minimum 3 years of related work experience.
  • Experience with PLC Programming, particularly with Rockwell Automation systems.
  • Knowledge of process instrumentation, experience with P&IDs and process automation.
  • Experience with AutoCAD.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Ability to travel to all Richelieu Foods, Inc. sites.
  • Act as a Safety Champion with focus on electrical safety.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in food manufacturing or consumer goods industry.
  • Experience working in a combustible dust environment.
  • Knowledge of CMMS systems (EMaint or SAP preferred) or similar software experience.

Pay and Benefits
The following information is provided in accordance with applicable state and local laws. Compensation is based on experience, geographic locations, and other legally permitted factors. The expected compensation range for this role is $100,000 and $125,000. This role is also eligible for an annual incentive plan bonus.
