Job description

WEC Business Services LLC, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, is seeking a Intern - Safety (Chicago, IL) in our Chicago, Illinois location. This internship is full-time during the Summer of 2027. The hourly rate for this internship is $21.30 with paid company holidays.

Job Summary
The Illinois Safety and Health Team provides support to Operations to ensure the safety of all employees at PGL and NSG. Services provided include training, industrial hygiene monitoring, site safety observations, safety meeting facilitation, injury and illness data analysis, development of safety communications, and technical support on all safety and health topics. The Safety and Health Team assists in providing a safe workplace for all employees.
Job Responsibilities
  • Conduct Safety & Health Initiatives
  • Conduct industrial hygiene exposure monitoring for various physical, biological and chemical agents to determine employee exposures
  • Audit safety and health performance through observation and inquiry
  • Identify improvement opportunities and inform facility management of issues and solutions
  • Act as a professional resource for all levels of employees while providing support services on safety and health
  • Deliver safety and health training programs and materials
  • Assist in the development and implementation of procedures, policies, and programs relating to safety and health
  • Assist Safety & Health Consultants with program development and implementation
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with facility employees and department leaders

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma, HSED, or GED
  • Current pursuit of a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Public Health, or a closely related degree with a graduation date after July 2027
  • Valid driver's license
  • Minimum GPA of 2.8

Pay Range Minimum: $21.30
Pay Range Maximum: $24.60
The pay range reflects the minimum and maximum for the position at the time of posting and may be modified in the future. The starting salary/pay within the pay range will be based on several factors, as applicable, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, travel requirements, collective bargaining agreements, and business and organizational needs. At WEC Energy Group, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role.
