Job description

Local Class A CDL Driver โ€“ Compactor Division

Mid-Atlantic Truck & Equipment Location: Clinton, MD

If you're an experienced Class A CDL Driver looking for a local position where your skills are valued, we'd like to meet you.

At Mid-Atlantic Truck & Equipment, our drivers play a key role in keeping our operations running. You'll transport compactors, containers, and heavy equipment to customer sites, support installations, stage equipment, and help keep projects on schedule. No two days are exactly the same, and you'll have the opportunity to put your experience to work every day.

This is a local, Monday-Friday position with deliveries primarily within a two-hour radius of Clinton, MD, so you'll be home every night. Our typical schedule is 7:30 AM-4:00 PM, with occasional overtime to complete customer deliveries or installations.

You'll spend about half your time driving and the other half loading and securing equipment, staging deliveries, assisting with installations, moving equipment throughout the yard, and supporting the team as needed. What You'll Do

  • Safely operate a variety of commercial vehicles, including tractor trailers, roll-off trucks, and container handler trucks.
  • Transport compactors, containers, municipal equipment, steel materials, forklifts, and other heavy equipment to customer locations.
  • Load, stage, secure, and organize equipment for safe transport using chains, binders, ratchet straps, and other DOT-compliant tie-downs.
  • Assist with equipment deliveries, off-loading, positioning, and compactor installations at customer sites.
  • Make multiple deliveries and pickups throughout the day as business needs require.
  • Haul scrap metal and other materials to recycling and disposal facilities.
  • Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment to move and stage equipment throughout the yard.
  • Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections while maintaining DOT compliance.
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe yard.
  • Work closely with the Compactor team to ensure equipment is delivered safely, on time, and ready for installation.
  • Support the team with additional operational tasks as needed.

What We're Looking For

  • Valid Class A CDL (required)
  • Manual transmission experience
  • Minimum 4 years of commercial driving experience hauling equipment or heavy loads
  • Current DOT Medical Card
  • Experience safely securing heavy equipment and oversized loads
  • Experience operating tractor trailers, roll-off trucks, or similar commercial equipment
  • Forklift experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of DOT regulations and safe driving practices
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and stay productive throughout the day
  • Professional, dependable, and customer-focused
  • Willing to assist with physical work outside of driving, including deliveries, installations, yard support, and equipment staging
  • Ability to frequently lift up to 50 pounds and remain active throughout the workday
  • Willingness to work occasional overtime when customer installations or business needs require it

Communication Requirements

  • English is the primary language used for business operations, safety communications, customer interactions, and required documentation.
  • This position requires the ability to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to safely perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Employees must be able to understand and follow safety policies, DOT regulations, traffic signs, route information, and delivery instructions; communicate effectively with coworkers, customers, and dispatch; and accurately complete required documentation, including Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs), delivery paperwork, and other required records.
