How much do internship electrochemistry jobs pay per hour?

As of Aug 10, 2026, the average hourly pay for internship electrochemistry in the United States is $15.54, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $12.50 and $17.55 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an electrochemistry intern, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Electrochemistry Intern, a solid background in chemistry, particularly electrochemistry principles, and enrollment in or completion of a relevant degree program are essential. Familiarity with laboratory instrumentation, such as potentiostats, cyclic voltammetry systems, and common analytical software, is typically required. Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and effective communication skills help interns stand out when analyzing results and collaborating with team members. These competencies are vital for ensuring accurate experimental outcomes and contributing meaningfully to research and development projects.

What is the difference between Internship Electrochemistry vs Electrochemical Technician?

AspectInternship ElectrochemistryElectrochemical Technician
CredentialsTypically pursuing or recent graduate in chemistry, chemical engineering, or related fieldAssociate's or bachelor's degree in chemistry, electrochemistry, or related field
Work EnvironmentLaboratories, research facilities, or academic settingsIndustrial labs, manufacturing plants, or research facilities
Job FocusLearning, assisting, and gaining experience in electrochemical processesMaintaining, troubleshooting, and operating electrochemical equipment
UsageEntry-level, training, or educational purposesSkilled technical work in electrochemical applications

Internship Electrochemistry roles are primarily educational, focusing on gaining experience in electrochemical research. Electrochemical Technicians perform hands-on technical tasks in industrial or research settings, requiring more experience and technical skills. Both roles involve electrochemistry but differ in responsibility, experience level, and work environment.

What is an internship in electrochemistry?

An internship in electrochemistry is a temporary position designed for students or recent graduates to gain practical experience in the field of electrochemistry. Interns typically work in research labs, industry settings, or academic institutions, assisting with experiments, data analysis, and the development of electrochemical devices or processes. These internships provide hands-on experience with techniques such as cyclic voltammetry, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, and electrode fabrication. The goal is to help interns build technical skills, gain exposure to real-world applications, and explore career options in electrochemistry.

What types of projects and responsibilities can I expect during an electrochemistry internship?

As an Electrochemistry intern, you will typically work on laboratory-based research projects, assisting with experiments related to battery technology, fuel cells, corrosion studies, or sensor development. Your daily tasks may include preparing chemical solutions, conducting electrochemical measurements, analyzing experimental data, and maintaining lab equipment. Interns often collaborate closely with senior researchers and engineers, and may have opportunities to present findings in team meetings. This hands-on experience helps you develop practical skills and gain insight into the research and development process in the electrochemistry field.
