Job description

FSB, an affiliate of Colliers Engineering & Design, is offering a hands-on Summer Internship for Electrical Engineering students ready to take what they are learning in the classroom and put it to work on real buildings. As an intern, you’ll work alongside licensed electrical engineers and experienced designers while gaining experience with the power, lighting, and technology systems that keep complex facilities running.

From hangars and higher education facilities to mission critical environments, commercial buildings, healthcare facilities, and more, you’ll get an inside look at how electrical engineering helps bring a building to life.

This is more than a summer of shadowing. You’ll contribute to active projects, build technical skills, make professional connections, and get a firsthand look at a career in electrical engineering within a multidisciplinary A/E firm.

Technical Learning

  • Assist with electrical system design and documentation using Revit and AutoCAD
  • Support power distribution, lighting, lighting controls, and low voltage system design
  • Perform basic electrical calculations and assist with load analysis, equipment selection, and system sizing
  • Support development of construction documents, electrical plans, one-line diagrams, schedules, and technical deliverables
  • Learn how the National Electrical Code and other applicable codes and design standards are applied to real world projects
  • Gain exposure to the electrical design process from concept through construction

Team Collaboration

  • Work alongside licensed electrical engineers and experienced designers on active projects
  • Participate in coordination with architecture, mechanical, structural, and fire protection teams
  • See how electrical systems interact with other building systems through multidisciplinary BIM and project coordination
  • Gain exposure to project meetings, client communication, and the day-to-day processes behind successful project delivery

The FSB Internship Experience

Our internship program is intentionally designed to help you make the transition from student to emerging professional. Along with your project work, you’ll have a summer full of opportunities to learn, connect, explore your career interests, and become part of FSB.

During the summer, you’ll:

  • Kick off your experience with FSB 101 and an introduction to our firm, culture, people, projects, and career opportunities
  • Connect with an FSB team member as a resource for questions, navigating the firm, and making connections throughout the summer
  • Participate in professional development programming, including leadership and project focused panels, Lunch & Learns, and other learning opportunities
  • Meet leaders and professionals from across FSB and learn about different career paths within the A/E industry
  • Build relationships with fellow interns and employees through networking, community service, and intern events
  • Develop your communication and presentation skills and wrap up the summer by sharing your experience and contributions through a final intern presentation

Required Qualifications

  • Actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an ABET accredited program
  • Able to work on site in Oklahoma City for the duration of the summer internship, approximately 40 hours per week
  • Basic familiarity with Revit, AutoCAD, or similar design software preferred
  • Strong communication, organization, problem solving, and collaboration skills
  • Curiosity, initiative, and a willingness to ask questions, take on new challenges, and learn from experienced professionals
