Your Opportunity
Stantec is currently seeking an experienced Electrical Designer to provide technical support on electric distribution design projects. Your Key Responsibilities:
  • Utility design and field operations to support distribution projects.
  • Plan work schedules based on staffing workload, and safety requirements.
  • Develop detailed electrical designs including calculations in coordination with Stantec designers and our client.
  • Coordinate permitting for railroad, roadway and utility crossings.
  • Conduct field audits of existing overhead and underground facilities associated with electric distribution system. Prepare field notes and preliminary designs.
  • Analyze electrical load data and perform calculations to determine size and location of electric distribution facilities based on engineering standards, existing or proposed easements, Right of Way permits, and operational needs and requirements.
  • Support and ensure implementation of Health, Safety, Security, & Environment (HSSE) Policies, Procedures, Standards and Guidelines in the execution of all work and coordinate with HSSE professionals during the execution of all phases of project planning and implementation.
  • Communicate and collaborate within Environmental Services and other Business Lines (Power and Transportation/ROW) to ensure consistency in project execution.

Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Proven experience in electric distribution design, field coordination, and project oversight
  • Ability to work with initiative, professionalism, and confidentiality, and is able to work independently, multi-task, and adapt to change in a very dynamic environment.
  • Initiative in problem detection and resolution
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task between multiple project managers and projects
  • Works well in a teaming environment
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD design. Experience with Civil 3D preferred, not mandatory (Surfaces, Alignments, Profiles, Cross-Sections, Corridors, and Grading)
  • Experience in reading and interpreting design plans
  • Ability to lift and move items and equipment up to 50 lbs.
  • Ideal Candidate must be located in or 2 hours away (maximum) from advertised location.

Education and Experience
  • Engineering Technology and/or comparable work experience in electrical distribution systems design.
  • 1+ years progressive electrical design experience in electrical distribution projects.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Fieldwork may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

About the Team
Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
Benefits Summary: Regular full-time and part-time employees (working at least 20 hours per week) have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health saving accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, short-term/long-term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage and paid family leave. Regular full-time and part-time employees will receive ten paid holidays in each calendar year. In addition, employees will be eligible to accrue vacation between 10 and 20 days per year and eligible for paid sick leave (and if more generous, in accordance with state and local law).
Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law.
