The salary range for this position is $75k-$95k annually. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and overall fit for the role.

About the Role
The Transmission Engineer I supports the engineering and design of high-voltage transmission line projects under the guidance of senior engineering staff. This position provides an excellent opportunity to develop technical expertise while contributing to transmission projects from planning through construction support. The successful candidate will work alongside experienced engineers to prepare engineering deliverables, perform technical analyses, and gain exposure to utility design standards and industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the engineering and design of high-voltage transmission line projects.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical documentation under the supervision of senior engineers.
  • Support transmission line routing, structure spotting, foundation coordination, and constructability reviews.
  • Assist with engineering studies, feasibility analyses, and design evaluations.
  • Review drawings and engineering documents for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable standards.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including Civil/Structural, Substation, Protection & Control (P&C), Survey, and Project Management.
  • Support the preparation of technical reports, project documentation, permit packages, and engineering deliverables.
  • Participate in field visits, site inspections, and construction support activities as needed.
  • Learn and apply applicable utility standards, engineering practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain project documentation and support quality assurance and quality control efforts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Civil/Structural Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Engineer Intern (EI) certification or the ability to obtain it within one year of hire.
  • Understanding of fundamental engineering principles and design practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary engineering team.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and PLS-CADD is preferred.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to project sites and client locations.

Nice-to-Haves
  • One to two years of experience in electric utility engineering, transmission design, or a related field.
  • Experience with transmission line design software such as PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, or PLS-TOWER.
  • Exposure to NESC, NEC, IEEE, ANSI, or other utility engineering standards.
  • Internship or co-op experience in utility, consulting, or power delivery engineering.
  • Experience supporting renewable energy, transmission, or substation projects.
  • Eagerness to pursue Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
