Miller Electric, an ITW company, is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our Components Division in our Magnetics, Leads, and Harness (MLH) Center of Excellence (CoE). As a Manufacturing Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in developing and executing cutting-edge engineering processes that elevate our operations. You’ll be at the forefront of enhancing safety, quality, delivery, and productivity while achieving impactful cost savings. Collaborating with engineering and operations teams, you’ll bring your expertise in transformer, inductor, and wire harness assembly processes to plan, organize, and execute key initiatives. If you’re ready to take ownership of transformative projects and make a tangible difference, this role offers an exciting opportunity to shape the future of manufacturing.
 

How you will make an impact

Process Innovation and Efficiency:

  • Process Development & Optimization: Develop and optimize the transformer, inductor, and wire harness assembly process by innovatively using new tools, processes, and efficiency improvements.

  • Technology Evaluation: Evaluate new technologies, materials, and components that enhance the assembly process or product quality.

  • Design for Manufacturability: Provide input during the design phase to ensure products are designed for ease of assembly and cost-effective production.

  • Continuous Improvement Drive improvement to existing processes that reduce cost, risk, and waste
     

Technical Support and Equipment Management:

  • Equipment Maintenance: Manage the installation, calibration, process control, and preventive maintenance of assembly equipment, including automatic and semi-automatic wire cutting equipment, wire crimping equipment, transformer winding equipment, harness assembly and testing fixtures, and pneumatic power tools.

  • Problem Solving & Support: Provide technical support to the production team, troubleshooting and resolving issues related to safety, quality, assembly, and process defects.

  • Prototyping & Design Validation: Define and oversee prototypes of new assemblies or systems to validate design concepts and functionality.
     

Collaboration and Project Leadership:

  • Project Management: Develop project scopes and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders, ensuring technical feasibility and timely completion.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams, including design, quality, and supply chain, to bring innovative products from concept to production.

  • Project Leadership: Lead initiatives aimed at improving safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost savings, using ITW Toolbox principles to achieve business objectives.

  • Communication: Demonstrate effective communication at all organizational levels, providing progress updates on projects, identifying barriers, and recommending solutions.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, or a related engineering field.

  • Experience: This is an entry level role.  Internships and previous experience in engineering related roles would be considered.

  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office. Experience with SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD is desirable.
