Job Summary & Objectives
The Legal eDiscovery Technology Manager is a highly skilled senior individual contributor responsible for leading the firm's technical eDiscovery capabilities across all phases of the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM). The role provides expert-level hands-on support in RelativityOne and adjacent platforms, architects defensible workflows, deploys advanced analytics and AI-assisted review, and delivers critical guidance to attorneys and case teams on complex, high-stakes matters. This role focuses on deep technical mastery, strategic consulting, and cross-functional leadership in processes, technology innovation, and best practices.
This position is designed as the technical anchor of the team, and serves as the primary progression step toward the Senior Legal eDiscovery Technology Manager role, where leadership and strategic responsibilities expand.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities
eDiscovery Technology & Platform Expertise
  • Provide day to day technical (Relativity One) expertise to eDiscovery stakeholders
  • Serve as the firm's primary hands-on technical expert for RelativityOne, including administration, configuration, analytics, processing, productions, performance optimization, and troubleshooting.
  • Provide advanced consultation on metadata integrity, search methodology, privilege screening, and defensible workflow design.
  • Support and advise on secondary platforms (Reveal, Everlaw, Nuix, Logikcull) when matter needs require diversification.
  • Manage and process modern data sources including M365/Purview, Teams, Slack, Zoom, WhatsApp, Google Workspace, Salesforce, mobile device data, and cloud repositories.
  • Automate workflows using Relativity scripts, APIs, PowerShell, or Python to improve efficiency and consistency
  • Maintain strong security posture through access controls, audit trails, secure data transfers, and workspace oversight

Case Team Support & Workflow Leadership
  • Lead consultations on defensible EDRM workflows, including identification, preservation/legal hold collaboration, collection strategy, processing, review, and production.
  • Lead matter kickoffs, conduct search strategy consultations, and ensure technical workflows align with legal strategy and case requirements.
  • Design complex search and culling strategies, advanced analytics (email threading, near-duplicate detection, clustering, TAR/CAL), and defensible validation approaches.
  • Perform detailed quality control on processing, review sets, and productions; maintain rigorous defensibility documentation throughout.

Process Improvement & Technology Innovation
  • Act as a liaison with vendors, ensuring cost-effective service models and consistent delivery quality.
  • Develop and maintain SOPs, workflow documentation, templates, guidelines, and knowledge articles.
  • Deliver targeted training and enablement sessions for attorneys, paralegals, and internal support teams on eDiscovery technology and best practices.
  • Lead internal initiatives to evaluate emerging technologies and incorporate innovations into existing processes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve RelativityOne performance or configuration issues.

Operational Responsibilities
  • Provide timely updates to case teams, including workload prioritization and risk identification.
  • Partner with vendors as a technical liaison; support budget and SOW development with relevant inputs.
  • Support internal analytics, operational reporting, and KPI data collection (but does not own governance)
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legal technology trends, analytics capabilities, and regulatory expectations.

Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, Legal Studies, or related discipline (or comparable experience)
  • 7+ years of hands-on eDiscovery experience, including 3+ years supporting a major law firm (AmLaw 100 preferred) or enterprise-level corporate legal department
  • Advanced, demonstrable expertise with RelativityOne administration, analytics, processing, productions, performance, and troubleshooting.
  • Proven experience with AI-assisted review (TAR/CAL) and advanced analytics workflows.
  • Familiarity with one or more additional platforms (Reveal, Everlaw, Nuix, Logikcull, etc.).
  • Proficiency with modern data sources and cloud-based collection considerations.
  • Ability to automate or enhance workflows using scripts or APIs (PowerShell, Python, Relativity scripts).
  • Strong understanding of FRCP, defensibility, chain-of-custody, privacy/compliance frameworks, and complex eDiscovery documentation.
  • Exceptional communication and the ability to guide attorneys and stakeholders through high-pressure, technical challenges.
  • Deep Relativity One workflow configuration

Preferred:
  • J.D. or advanced technical/legal degree.
  • Relativity certifications: RCA, plus R1 Pro, Analytics Specialist, or Expert-level credentials.
