Internship Discord typically refers to online platforms where interns connect, learn, and network, often without formal management responsibilities. While both involve online community interaction, the former is more about participation, and the latter about overseeing and growing communities.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an intern at Discord, and why are they important?

To thrive as an intern at Discord, you generally need a foundation in computer science or a related field, strong problem-solving abilities, and relevant coursework or project experience. Familiarity with programming languages (such as Python, JavaScript, or C++), version control systems like Git, and collaborative tools like Slack or Discord itself are typically used. Excellent communication, adaptability, and a willingness to learn make an intern stand out in this fast-paced tech environment. These skills are crucial for contributing effectively to projects, integrating with teams, and maximizing the learning experience during the internship.

What kinds of projects or responsibilities can I expect as an intern at Discord?

As an intern at Discord, you can expect to work on meaningful projects that directly impact the product and user experience. Interns typically collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as engineering, design, and product management, to solve real-world challenges like improving app performance, building new features, or enhancing community safety tools. While the specific responsibilities may vary depending on your role and team, you will have opportunities to contribute code, participate in code reviews, and attend meetings just like full-time employees. Discord values intern input and encourages ownership, so you'll gain hands-on experience and professional growth throughout your internship.

What is an Internship at Discord?

An Internship at Discord is a temporary position for students or recent graduates to gain practical experience working at Discord, a popular communication platform. Interns work on real projects alongside experienced teams in areas such as engineering, design, product management, and marketing. These internships provide opportunities to learn industry skills, contribute to the platform, and build professional networks. They typically last for a few months and are paid positions, offering mentorship and the chance to make a real impact.

Job description

We're TapBlaze, a Los Angeles-based casual mobile game studio behind Good Pizza, Great Pizza and Good Coffee, Great Coffee. We're looking for someone special to join our team for a 10-week social media marketing internship.

This is a hands-on, fast-paced program where you'll work on real projects from day one. The gaming industry moves quickly, and we want to set you up with the kind of experience and skills that actually prepare you for it.

We have established audiences across multiple platforms and are looking for someone to help us deepen that engagement, grow our reach, and turn our communities into a stronger driver of installs and brand awareness.

We value passion, creativity, and a genuine desire to grow. If you're curious whether you'd be a good culture fit, we encourage you to learn more about our team values at tapblaze.com.

What You'll Do
  • Create social media assets (video + static) tailored to each platform’s format and audience

  • Write captions and marketing copy that drives clicks, installs, and engagement. Not just likes

  • Schedule posts across all platforms using tools like Sprout or Loomly

  • Study what works, what doesn’t, and constantly push for better across TikTok, Reddit, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, X, and Discord

  • Develop a creative strategy based on the game’s unique community and growth potential

  • Stay plugged into our communities and surface trends, feedback, and ideas to the team early

The 10-Week Goal

By week 10, you'll be running our social end-to-end, setting the creative strategy, producing platform-native content, writing copy that drives installs and not just likes, and publishing across all our channels. You'll have a clear read on which platforms have the most room to grow for our games, backed by real data, and an active pulse on our communities that surfaces trends, feedback, and ideas before they're obvious to the rest of the team. The goal is to leave us with a sharper, more intentional social presence than we had when you started, and a playbook we can keep building on.

What We're Looking For
  • Take initiative and are always looking for ways to improve

  • Are passionate about cozy games, marketing, or community building

  • Have a strong attention to detail and take pride in your work

  • Welcome feedback and are comfortable iterating, even through multiple rounds

  • Are open to learning and incorporating new marketing tools into your workflow

Skills and Background
  • Photoshop proficiency: comfortable doing clean edits and recreating partial art assets

  • Solid grasp of short form video content, especially TikTok and Reels

  • Ability to write copy that feels human, fun, and on brand

  • Organized and fast under tight deadlines, comfortable managing multiple platforms at once

  • Willingness to learn Premiere Pro, After Effects, and other tools on the job

  • Bonus: experience in game marketing or community management

  • Bonus: a genuine love for cozy mobile games

Job Details
  • Paid internship: $20–$25/hr

  • 10 week intensive program

  • In office only, 5 days a week at our Sawtelle location in Los Angeles, CA

Commitment to Diversity

As an equal opportunity employer committed to meeting the needs of a multigenerational and multicultural workforce TapBlaze recognizes that a diverse staff, reflective of our community, is an integral and welcome part of a successful and ethical business. We hire local talent at all levels regardless of race, color, religion, age, national origin, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, or disability, and actively foster inclusion in all forms both within our company and across interactions with vendors and partners.

If this position caught your eye, send us your resume! For best consideration, include a cover letter explaining why you’d be an excellent fit. We read every one. To confirm you did too, include the phrase “coffee is great” somewhere in your cover letter.
