Commercial Lines Account Manager – Mid-Market

Position Summary:

The Commercial Lines Account Manager is responsible for delivering exceptional service and expertise to a defined book of mid-market to large business clients. This role requires strong knowledge of insurance, effective communication, and a proactive approach to understanding and meeting client needs. The Commercial Lines Account Manager partners closely with producers and internal teams to manage renewals, negotiate coverage terms, and ensure policies are aligned with client objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Education & Professional Development

  • Apply knowledge of insurance products, coverages, and markets to develop tailored client solutions.
  • Identify coverage gaps and recommend appropriate risk management strategies.
  • Maintain and pursue relevant professional designations (e.g., CISR) to enhance expertise.

Operational Excellence

  • Manage workflows efficiently while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards, procedures, and documentation requirements.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and timely client records.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office and Applied Epic.

Client & Policy Management

  • Market, obtain, and negotiate renewal terms and quotes.
  • Collaborate with carriers and clients to address coverage gaps and optimize policy structure.
  • Coordinate onboarding for new clients, ensuring a seamless transition experience.
  • Process renewals, endorsements, and policy changes within established timelines.

Independent Judgment & Problem Solving

  • Manage day-to-day client needs with minimal producer involvement.
  • Analyze client and carrier challenges and recommend effective solutions.
  • Exercise sound judgment within established guidelines; escalate complex issues when appropriate.

Carrier & Client Relationships

  • Develop and maintain strong, professional relationships with clients, carriers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Support retention efforts with a goal of maintaining client retention above 95%.

Team Collaboration

  • Foster a positive, team-oriented environment by leading through example.
  • Support colleagues and contribute to overall team success.
  • Maintain professionalism and composure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Active Pennsylvania Property & Casualty license required; pursuit of CISR designation preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of related commercial lines account management experience, preferably supporting mid-market business clients
  • Strong knowledge of insurance coverages, policy language, and risk management principles
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Applied Epic, or similar agency management system
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check, as permitted by law
