Job description

Job Summary

Join our team at Corewell Health and make a difference in the lives of our patients, guests, and team members through your passion for creating delicious and nutritious food options. As a Cook, you'll play a vital role in the preparation and execution of hot and cold meals in our restaurants, room service, and grab & go markets. From line cooking and prep cooking to vegetable prep, short order cooking, catering, and mise en place, you'll have the opportunity to showcase your culinary skills and make a positive impact on those we serve every day.

Essential Functions

  • Assembles and prepares ingredients for cooking by cleaning and cutting.
  • Follows standardized recipes, calculation ingredients based on weight and volume.
  • Records temperatures correctly on temperature log sheets. Responsible to replace food items that do not fit standards.
  • Stores food items as required, labeling and dating items per standards. Utilizes leftovers within allotted time.
  • Sets up steam tables on patient and cafeteria tray lines.
  • Communicates with other staff members to ensure continuity and coordination of services.

Qualifications

Required

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Preferred

  • Vocational/Technical training in food service or currently enrolled
  • Culinary Internships student workers meeting Internship requirements
  • 1 year of relevant experience in food preparation/serving
  • Food Handler Certificate 90 Days And
  • Food Allergy Certificate 90 Days
