Job description

Digital Marketing Generalist

In this growth-oriented position at SSDM, you will be trained in and immersed in a wide range of digital marketing responsibilities, all of which are designed to build a strong, well-rounded foundation. Your day will include a blend of hands-on marketing execution, client support observation (and eventually, participation), and ongoing training across multiple disciplines. As you develop, you will take on increasing ownership of projects and begin building the skillset required to become a client-facing account lead (CX) - one of the most critical roles within our agency.

This is a significant opportunity. SSDM is committed to investing in your development, exposing you to a variety of digital marketing specialties, and helping you identify where your strengths and interests align. Our intent is that, over time you will grow from supporting execution to contributing strategically across accounts.

Preferred Experience: 3 - 5 yrs

Though we will assess each individual candidate, ideal backgrounds include;

  • Sales and/or sales and marketing support
  • Agency internship (digital marketing agency a plus)

The most critical proven personal abilities we will look for are;

  • The desire and ability to connect strongly and work effectively with others - be they team members, clients or prospective clients
  • Strategic inclinations, meaning you have a tendency to stand back from any challenge you are confronted with and think about it from a big picture perspective
  • A natural tendency to be highly detail oriented
  • Can juggle multiple responsibilities/projects

Interview Process:

1st Interview - Virtual meeting with members of our team. If there appears to be a strong fit, you will be invited to continue in the process. You may be asked to complete a sample project prior to your next meeting.

2nd Interview - In-office meeting with members of our leadership team. If successful, follow-up evaluations and assessments may be sent to you to complete.

Leadership Alignment - Once interviews are complete, the SSDM leadership team will align internally and extend an offer. We will communicate with all candidates regarding the outcome of the process.

Management and Performance Evaluations:

Your day-to-day responsibilities and development will be overseen by senior members of our team, including leadership within Client Experience and Agency Operations.

You will participate in structured check-ins at:

  • 30 days
  • 90 days
  • 6 months

Though regular communications and check-ins with your supervisors will occur, at twelve months we will conduct an annual performance review to evaluate your growth, discuss your interests, and identify the path forward based on your strengths and our agency needs.

On the Job Expectations:

  • Demonstrate high curiosity and a strong yearning to learn
  • Take initiative and ownership of assigned work
  • Collaborate effectively with team members across departments
  • Proactively seek feedback and present learnings to leadership
  • Maintain strong attention to detail across all deliverables
  • Be adaptable in a fast-paced, evolving agency environment
  • Approach challenges with proposed solutions, not just observations
  • Consistently carry a positive, solutions-oriented attitude
  • Manage time and priorities effectively across multiple projects and deadlines
  • Communicate clearly and professionally, both internally and with clients
  • Record your time daily

Overall Responsibilities:

  • Participating in ongoing training across digital marketing disciplines, including potential Google certifications, reporting out and/or completing comprehension tests
  • Supporting varied client accounts through execution and coordination of digital marketing initiatives
  • Observing both client and internal meetings, taking notes and asking questions (either in the moment or afterward, as appropriate) that will assure your growth in comprehension
  • Assisting with SEO efforts, including keyword research and content optimization
  • Drafting and editing blog content using SEO briefs and AI tools
  • Managing and updating website content within WordPress CMS
  • Supporting email marketing initiatives, including campaign builds and automation (CRM platforms such as Constant Contact)
  • Assisting in planning, executing, and analyzing social media content
  • Coordinating digital campaigns and compiling performance reports
  • Supporting project management efforts within tools such as Wrike
  • Proofreading and conducting quality assurance checks across marketing deliverables
  • Assisting with client communication and internal updates
  • Supporting general agency needs and special projects as assigned

Hours:

The office hours for this position are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with a half-hour lunch. Our expectation is that you will put in the hours needed to stay on top of your learning and work production needs, which may exceed this timeframe.

Wednesday is typically a work-from-home day for much of the team; however, in-office expectations may vary depending on business needs. You will be assigned work and/or training for remote days.

Compensation:

Salary: $50 - $85,000 annually, commensurate with experience

Profit Sharing:
SSDM offers a team-wide profit-sharing program. Participation begins on day one, with vesting starting at 20% after your first full year and increasing annually to 100% by year five. Distributions are made annually.

PTO:
10 days of Paid Time Off (available after 90 days)

Paid Holidays:
New Year's Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day
(Additional holiday time may be provided based on yearly scheduling)

Benefits:

  • Health insurance (multiple plan options with company contribution)
  • Dental and vision insurance options
  • 401(k) plan with company match up to 3%
