Position Overview
We are seeking a dynamic leader to spearhead the strategic advancement of our Diabetes Center of Excellence, emphasizing innovation, teamwork, and impactful results. This role requires clinical expertise in Endocrinology within a multidisciplinary care framework.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide teaching, mentorship, and a conducive research atmosphere for medical students, residents, fellows, and other trainees.
- Collaborate with leaders in medicine, nursing, pharmacy, podiatry, and other health disciplines to create integrated, team-oriented care models that focus on diabetes prevention, education, and treatment.
- Advocate for tailored access to care that meets the unique needs of the Rio Grande Valley community.
- Actively engage in and promote value-based care initiatives and population health programs aimed at improving diabetes management and outcomes.
- Work alongside operational leadership to establish quality metrics, clinical pathways, and manage data dashboards to ensure superior clinical outcomes, patient satisfaction, and compliance with ADA care standards.
- Participate in quality improvement and accreditation activities.
- Attend and contribute to institutional committee meetings as required.
- Fulfill assigned administrative responsibilities.
- Present and participate in teaching and continuing education conferences, delivering lectures with visual aids to various trainees.
- Support faculty development initiatives related to diabetes prevention and management.
Research and Scholarly Activities
- Engage in clinical research and scholarly activities to enrich the academic environment.
- Establish and maintain independent clinical research programs, which may involve instructing research support staff on protocol execution.
- Collaborate with fellow researchers and authors manuscripts detailing scientific advancements from research projects for submission to peer-reviewed journals.
- Identify and secure funding opportunities to support clinical research, including the preparation of grant proposals, applications, and budget analysis.
Clinical Program Development
- Oversee the design and expansion of clinical programs, including population health initiatives, coordination of care for high-risk patients, digital health integration, and chronic care management services.
- Establish and maintain a clinical endocrinology practice for our organization.
- Review, assess, and interpret medical records, physical examinations, and other pertinent patient data, demonstrating proficiency in patient history taking and examination.
- Translate essential clinical and diagnostic findings into effective treatment recommendations within multidisciplinary settings.
- Ensure the implementation of quality control standards and maintain ongoing quality assurance measures.
- Exhibit self-motivation, conscientiousness, and strong communication skills, both orally and in writing, while effectively relating to peers and staff at both technical and administrative levels.
