Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Dallas Mavericks are committed to creating meaningful impact across the DFW community by addressing racial inequities, advancing social justice, and supporting initiatives focused on education, health and wellness, and community empowerment. We are seeking candidates who are passionate about community impact work and interested in gaining hands-on experience within a professional sports organization.
This internship provides an opportunity to work alongside the Corporate Social Responsibility Team while supporting a variety of independent and collaborative projects that strengthen community engagement and organizational impact.
LENGTH OF INTERNSHIP:
  • October 6, 2025 – April 30, 2026. (duration may change because of performance and/or business needs)
  • Mandatory In-Person Internship Development Session (Once a month)
  • Must be able to work 29 hours per week (3-4 day/wk.), which may include nights and weekends as needed.
JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Assist with a wide variety of community relations and corporate social responsibility projects that drive brand awareness and community impact.
  • Support the planning and execution of key community impact initiatives, including The HUDDLE, Mavs Business Assist, education initiatives, and Adopt-A-School programming.
  • Assist with nonprofit partnerships, fundraising efforts, employee volunteer projects, community activations, and special events.
  • Perform daily office duties as assigned by the CSR Manager, Coordinator, and Director, including copywriting, stakeholder correspondence, data tracking, reporting, and administrative support.
  • Support health and wellness initiatives, community outreach efforts, and donation request fulfillment.
  • Help maintain and organize signed-item inventory, giveaway items, storage areas, and Community Relations materials.
  • Assist with event setup, breakdown, and on-site execution for community programs and partner events.
REQUIRED SKILLS amp; ABILITIES:
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong writing and editing abilities as well as excellent verbal communication.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to prioritize within a fast-paced team environment.
  • Ability to communicate and engage with fans with a customer-first attitude.
  • Highly motivated, goal-oriented, and a self-starter.
  • Ability to handle confidential information in a professional manner.
  • Experience working with promotions, community engagement, or events in a marketing department is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of the Dallas Mavericks and the NBA.
EDUCATION amp; EXPERIENCES:
  • Must be currently enrolled in a Junior or 4-year college with a preferred concentration in Sports Marketing/Management, Business/Marketing, Communications, or Advertising.
  • If applying for college credit, you must be able to provide proof that credit will be earned toward your course of study (from school/registrar).
