What is an internship in debt restructuring?

An Internship in Debt Restructuring is a temporary position, often for students or recent graduates, where you assist financial professionals in analyzing and managing the restructuring of a company's debt. Interns typically help with financial modeling, preparing presentations, conducting industry research, and supporting negotiations between debtors and creditors. The goal is to gain hands-on experience in restructuring strategies, learn how to assess a company’s financial health, and understand the processes involved in modifying existing debt agreements. This internship provides valuable exposure to corporate finance, distressed assets, and turnaround management.

What types of projects or tasks can an intern expect to work on in a debt restructuring internship?

As a Debt Restructuring intern, you can expect to assist with financial analysis, preparing presentations for client meetings, and supporting senior team members in developing restructuring strategies. Interns often work on data gathering, reviewing financial statements, and performing industry research to help assess clients’ financial health. Collaboration is key, as you'll interact closely with analysts, associates, and sometimes clients, gaining exposure to real-world restructuring cases. This hands-on experience provides a solid foundation for understanding distressed finance and the restructuring process.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an intern in debt restructuring, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Intern in Debt Restructuring, you typically need a background in finance, accounting, or business, with strong analytical and quantitative skills.
