Job Description

Our Fortune 100 financial services client is seeking a highly motivated and analytically driven Jr. Data Scientist to join their banking partner's Consumer Payments & Credit Card Analytics team.  This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with large-scale datasets across credit cards, peer-to-peer (P2P) platforms such as Zelle, and other consumer payment products.

This role involves analyzing transactional data, uncovering customer insights, and delivering data-driven strategies to improve product performance, customer segmentation, and marketing effectiveness.  The individual will leverage Snowflake for cloud-based data management, Python and SAS for advanced analytics and modeling, and leading business intelligence (BI) tools including Tableau, Qlik, and Sigma to produce actionable insights that guide strategic decisions.

The Details:

  • Location: 5 days onsite per week required in Atlanta, GA (zip code: 30308)
  • Duration: 3-month consulting role with potential for extension (must be able to work on Blend's W2 without requiring employer sponsorship either now or in the future)

What you'll do:

Analytics & Insights

  • Analyze credit card and P2P transaction data to identify trends, growth opportunities, and areas for improvement across products and customer segments.
  • Monitor and report on consumer behavior trends, including digital adoption and peer-to-peer payment activity, to inform business strategy.
  • Develop segmentation strategies to enable targeted marketing, product personalization, and enhanced customer engagement.
  • Define and track key performance metrics to measure portfolio health, marketing effectiveness, and product innovation impact.

Advanced Modeling & Forecasting

  • Design and implement statistical and predictive models using Python and SAS to forecast trends, evaluate campaign performance, and measure customer lifetime value.
  • Support the development of data-driven marketing experiments and A/B testing strategies to optimize marketing initiatives.

Cloud Data & Business Intelligence

  • Leverage Snowflake to manage and optimize large-scale data environments, ensuring high data quality and accessibility.
  • Build and maintain ETL processes to transform raw data into analytics-ready datasets.
  • Create interactive dashboards and reports in Tableau, Qlik, and Sigma to enable self-service analytics and real-time business decision-making.
  • Drive adoption of Sigma Computing as a collaborative platform for business users to explore data directly in Snowflake.

Collaboration & Strategy

  • Partner with Marketing, Product Management, and Risk teams to align analytical insights with strategic objectives.
  • Provide analytical support for new product launches, feature enhancements, and portfolio optimization efforts.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to senior leadership through clear, compelling data storytelling.
Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Financial Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
  • 0-2 years of experience, including internships, in analytics, data science, or business intelligence.
  • Must be a recent graduate of Georgia Institute of Technology.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in Python and SAS for analytics, modeling, and statistical analysis.
  • Strong SQL skills and hands-on experience with Snowflake or other cloud-based data warehouses.
  • Experience with BI tools, including Tableau, Qlik, and Sigma, for dashboard creation and data visualization.
  • Strong understanding of statistical techniques, marketing analytics, and customer segmentation methodologies.
  • Experience managing and manipulating large, complex datasets.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills with a high attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication abilities, with the capability to present analytical findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Collaborative mindset and eagerness to learn and grow in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Additional Information

The starting pay range for this role is $40-45 per hour. Actual compensation within the range will be dependent on several factors including but not limited to relevant experience, skills, certifications, training, and location. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range and determining factors for compensation are considered for each individual circumstance.
